Job Description
Responsible for operating the Mold system and applying all applicable standards to produce quality products. This job consists primarily of operating the Mold, which is a very critical aspect of our production process. In conjunction with the actual operating of the equipment, production standards must be used.

• Must know the different types of foams.
• Must have basic reading, writing and math skills
• Must be able to read and use a tape measure to 1/16”
• Must have good communication skills and be able to work with people from other departments in an office and manufacturing environment
• Must be detail oriented and well organized
• Must have good on-time attendance
• Must be able to make decisions
• Must be self-motivated and be able to motivate others and promote teamwork
• Must be able to change from one task to another frequently
• Must be able to work well with others
• Must adhere to all safety and environmental policies
• Must be forklift certified and forklift license should always be available.
• Must be committed to LP-9000 and Continuous Improvement
The following is a listing of the standards which are used in this job:
• Mold Report (log weight, binder per log, number, and contributors to quality.
• Mark all logs with the following information per work instruction: • Density, Weight, Date/ Shift, Number of log.
• Produce logs according to Mold Schedule and approve formula from Management.
• Any changes to the formula MUST be approved by Management.
• Keep mold processing 11 logs minimum per hour.
• Responsible for visually monitoring material flow into the hopper.
• Ensure hoppers have plenty of material.
• Shut down immediately upon major problems and notify Bonding Grinding Supervisor (If possible, notify supervisor before shutting down the Mold process).
• Change dye before running out.
• Ensure adequate steam penetration through log.
• Leave notes of any issues or changes for the next shift operator.
• Clean blender slide gates and tracks. Make sure Blender Slide Gates function properly. (Advise maintenance of any problems).
• Pipe and/or air leaks
• Mold scales
• Dye system
• Any unusual noise coming from equipment

This position is also responsible for reporting to the supervisor any visual maintenance issues such as:
• Chains, sprockets, magnets, gearboxes, motors, rollers and belts
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• 100% Adherence to standards
• No deviations from material requirements (over or under)
• Operating the Mold Process based on Leggett’s production standards
• Report to supervisor any visual findings for preventive maintenance
• Meet production goals
• Maintain neat and accurate paperwork
• Perform in a function as directed by supervisor
• Clean platens and slide gates
• Perform all start-up checks
• Operate the Mold system in Auto & Manual mode
• Check log height and adjust accordingly
• Program in weights for each log density
• Enter Mold report data
• Understand formula sheet
• Perform (as needed) Blend/Mold tanks and Mold platens cleaning procedures
• Know when dye needs to be changed
• Refill binder tank when needed
• Mark all logs with needed information
• Perform color change
• Adjust steam and binder time per formula
• Understand foam formulas and what are allowable substitutions
• Produce logs on a continual basis throughout shift
• Adjust the log weight per formula
• Equipment must be blown down continuously throughout the shift.
• Forklift certified
• Remove log from conveyor and store in designated area
