POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Surgery - Dr. Yeatman at USF is seeking an Advanced Research Scientist to join in Research efforts to support Dr. Yeatman lab.  Advanced Research Scientist has an important role, to function independently to design and perform laboratory experiments that support the specific aims of funded grant proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help design, oversee and conduct laboratory experimental procedures including:
Cell line construction
Cell culture
Construction and preparation of plasmids
Development and analysis of stem cell and organoid cultures:
Preparation from cell line
Preparation from human tumors
Ordering and growth of PDX models from NCI.
Help design, oversee, preform and analysis numerous laboratory investigations:
Western blotting
DNA and RNA isolation and molecular analysis
Straining and microscopic analysis cells and tissues
Laboratory management oversight:
Ordering supplies and managing essential laboratory supplies
Helping to manage laboratory budgets of grants with necessary laboratory expenditures
Senior leadership duties:
Work with PI to help design and write grants and manuscripts
Help oversee and train students, junior lab techs, post docs and residents
Help plan, direct laboratory research that must fit together to complete projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor's degree in a natural, physical or medical science with 2 years of experience.
