In this vital role you will will serve at a domain expert (SME) level within the Global Infrastructure Services team supporting with accountability for all Linux administration related activities while managing various toolsets for Operating System Administration, Performance, Reporting, and monitoring needs in a 24x7 regulated environment. The incumbent will design and implement enterprise Linux server solutions that meet business requirements in line with defined strategies, compliance requirements, and fiscal guidelines.The Specialist IS Engineer will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems based at our Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. The Global Infrastructure Services team is the global enterprise administration group that manages physical and virtual hosting including private and public cloud hosting options, operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup. The primary Linux platform supported by this group is RHEL with a smaller footprint of Ubuntu.Provide and support automation solutions to repeated tasks such as server builds, OS patching, configuration changes and software deployments to manage servers at scale using tools such as Ansible.Support the Service Owner, full time employees, and managed service provider in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the serviceEnsure service is aligned with the key principles of operational excellence which include meeting the needs of the business, cost effectiveness, scalability, compliance, reliability and resilienceManage and administer Linux Systems, related services and support engineered systemsProvide support to leverage, deploy and manage AWS technologies: EC2, EBS, S3 and Snapshots for exampleContribute to the development of the architecture roadmap for Linux including technical standards and policies.Operate as a technical lead for less experienced staff and Managed Service ProvidersMonitor security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; analyze and lead necessary security patch implementations to ensure ongoing system resilience and reliabilityProvide performance analysis and tune systems while applying software and hardware tools to identify, analyze, and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting performance.Investigate and resolve server related technical issues providing rotational 24x7 On-Call Support at the SME level and assist/lead Root Cause Analysis reviewsAccountable for audit and security compliance issues (Amgen and government regulations) related to Linux platformsWinWhat we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients.
