Overview
The Associate Business Development & Marketing (BD&M) Director, Business Law, in close collaboration with the Business Law Department Chair, will play an integral role in defining and advancing the strategic growth efforts for the Business Law (BLaw) Department while ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the firm as a whole. This person will utilize in-depth market knowledge and financial data to inform decision-making and develop and implement business development strategies and priorities. The person will oversee the BLaw BD&M team and make business development connections between the BLaw practice groups and other practices and sectors within the firm.

Responsibilities
Business Development and Strategy
Responsible for the business development and marketing efforts of the BLaw Department and its 14 practice groups. • In conjunction with the leadership of the BLaw Department, create and drive a BD strategic framework that enables individual practice groups to meet growth metrics.
• Working closely with the Sector Leads and Transactions Senior Manager, develop and execute a business development strategy for the Transactions Practice to grow opportunities with each Sector.
• Exhibit commercial understanding of the business drivers and how to create opportunity to grow revenue.
• Utilizing market, industry, and client data to create and drive strategic initiatives for the BLaw Department.
• Conduct research and analysis of markets and clients for purposes of developing new business and  relationships with current clients.
• Lead business development efforts for the BLaw team, developing and managing team BD strategies and practice and individual attorney BD plans.
• Evaluate potential business development and profile-raising opportunities and make recommendations based on strategic growth metrics and anticipated return on investment.
• Serve as a client account manager for key accounts.
• Conduct client feedback sessions on a regular basis. Ensure that client feedback is documented, communicated, and acted upon by the client teams.
• Utilize internal financial performance data, competitive intelligence, and market trends, in addition to client information collected by the firm's knowledge management/CRM system.
• Leverage marketing technology to identify leads and track and manage opportunities and pursuits.
• Assist with the integration of lateral partners and counsel.
Coaching and Training
• Provide coaching, individually or in a group context, to attorneys to help them develop new business, expand existing relationships, enhance their profile, and drive their market demand
• Guide attorneys on how to communicate unique value propositions that differentiate our company
• Collaborate with BD & Marketing Department colleagues to deliver relevant BD training
Team Leadership and Management
• Directly supervise two BD & Marketing team members, a senior manager and manager, and collaborate, mentor, and lead to ensure a high-performing and results-oriented team in support of the BLaw Department
• Provide guidance and development opportunities for all team members
• Build trusted and productive relationships with attorneys and colleagues to develop and execute Department plans and initiatives
• Work collaboratively with the necessary marketing support team to execute upon successful marketing programs
• Provide discipline and structure to advance projects and plans to desired outcomes
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, or related field required
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive business development and/or marketing experience in legal services or professional services required. Corporate BD & Marketing experience required.
• Proven revenue growth and client relationship management experience
• Practice Department strategy and management experience
• Large client/account management cross-selling experience. Has a led team of professionals grow revenue at a large client relationship
