Position Summary:
The Director facilitates the measurement and reporting of formal and informal assessment that demonstrates student academic achievement. Additionally, the Director encourages professional development of Academic Programs faculty/staff related to assessment of learning and performance. The Director also provides guidance for the faculty-driven assessment of student learning. The Director is responsible for budget management and operational reports for the unit(s) assigned, and provides direct supervision to professional and administrative support staff assigned to the unit(s). This is a 12 month, full-time position that reports to the Associate Vice-President, Academic Support, within the division of Academic Programs.
Staff Required Education/Experience:
• Degree in higher education administration, curriculum, instruction, evaluation or assessment, or a related field and two (2) years of full-time experience in a role directly involved with curriculum assessment; two (2) years of experience in post-secondary instruction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
• Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
• Ability to gather and interpret data in order to create reports using charts, graphs, statistical applications, infographics, and translating data into easy-to-understand formats, with close attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of information communicated.
• Detailed knowledge of MS Excel and of SPSS or similar statistical analysis software.
Faculty Required Education/Experience Skills: Desired Education/Experience/Skills:
• Post-graduate degree in a related field preferred.
• Experienced with SACSCOC accreditation requirements in higher education.
• Track record of successfully leading and managing short- and long-term projects with multiple stakeholders, including meeting accreditation reporting deadlines.
• Track record of successfully collaborating with academic, institutional and administrative stakeholders.
• Experience with Banner or Colleague student information systems.
• Proficient user of Blackboard learning management software or similar product.
• Two (2) years of experience in conducting technology-related training classes for faculty.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experienced with curriculum and higher education assessment using mixed methods.
• Experienced with major issues and trends in adult education, teaching and learning.
• Demonstrated skill in clear, effective communication-both oral and writing-with diverse stakeholders.
• Track record of successfully leading and managing short- and long-term projects with multiple stakeholders, including meeting reporting deadlines.
• Proficient in the use of personal computers, digital media (audio and video), Web 2.0 tools and applications, and Microsoft Office application software.
• Demonstrated ability to design, create, and deliver support materials using appropriate development tools.

Prepare and disseminate materials to assist faculty and departments in the development of effective, meaningful, and manageable strategies for the assessment of student learning;

Assist academic departments undertaking program reviews by providing strategies, processes, and reports related to assessment of student learning: Assist in:
• developing/reviewing program goals and student learning objectives.
• developing a program curriculum matrix and assessment activities matrix.
• developing and implementing direct and indirect assessment methods appropriate for the program.
• collecting data about the program and student learning.
• guiding departments on closing the loop between results and planning/evaluation
Duty and Responsibility:
Work with the Institutional Effectiveness Office to facilitate assessment and reporting processes;

Provide workshops or related activities to disseminate information about effective assessment practices as related to student learning;

Work with the academic administration and faculty to define further the integration and assessment of the GE goals in classroom instruction;

Ensure alignment of campus assessment initiatives with SACSCOC reaccreditation standards and their emphasis on assessment of student learning;

Participate in the College’s accreditation activities, as directed-by/in-support-of the SACSCOC Institutional Accreditation Liaison;

Participate in NCCCS -sponsored and national activities related to position responsibilities;
