Overview
The End User Compute Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of Company's desktop and end user compute infrastructure throughout the organization. The incumbent will provide technical assistance regarding desktop asset management and software deployment. In addition, the End User Compute Engineer will provide strategic direction, architectural design, and day to day management for the desktop infrastructure technologies.  The incumbent stays abreast of emerging technologies and best practices and is viewed as a thought leader in technical architecture who influences technology and solution roadmaps.
Responsibilities
• Serves as the subject matter expert regarding all aspects of the desktop / end user compute infrastructure
• Architects, configures and maintains the enterprise desktop infrastructure including:
• End User Compute operating system customization
• End User Compute O/S patching and imaging
• Application compatibility testing
• Group policy management
• PowerShell, VBScript, and Batch Scripting
• SQL reporting on SMS database
• Configuration and management of MDM/MAM/EMM systems such as Microsoft SCCM and/or Intune, Airwatch
• Provides strategic oversight and planning of enterprise initiatives, ensuring desktop infrastructure components are properly designed in alignment with enterprise infrastructure strategies
• Monitors the health of the desktop infrastructure along with other end user compute systems, and troubleshoots and coordinates repair with vendors as needed. This includes identifying potential problems and evaluating and analyzing resolution options
• Performs project, capacity, and budget planning. This can include identifying projects, developing project tasks and timelines, estimating future capacity requirements, obtaining budgetary quotes, and determining interoperability requirements for hardware and software associated with desktop asset management and software deployments
• Documents instructional procedures, configurations, and change management records, and provides performance and analysis growth reports
• Provides guidance on technical aspects of desktop asset management and software deployments to ensure strategies, roadmaps, policies, standards, and practices are properly applied
• Provides technical support to users at the corporate office and all field locations as needed
• Coordinates and participates in desktop testing and change management processes
• Reviews the end user compute device performance with respect to infrastructure specifications, documents variances, and produces reports on availability and status
• Logs, handles, and closes problem and change management tickets within the management system
• Assists in the development and enforcement of end user compute infrastructure policies
• Develops operating policies and procedures that support the end user compute infrastructure
• Keeps current regarding new trends and emerging technologies
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Certification
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience required
• Industry Certifications in Windows 7/8.x/10 or Windows Server 2008 such as MSSA, MCTS, MCITP-SA, MCITP-ES, preferred
• Five years of experience with Windows Desktop OS imaging and Microsoft System Administration
• Strong experience administering Active Directory, PKI certificates, and DMZ Distribution Points
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Expert working knowledge of Microsoft System Administration
• Exposure to or experience with SCCM or similar tools their usage
• Ability to analyze and select desktop asset management and software deployment technologies that best fit business needs including ensuring the synchronicity with existing infrastructure
• Strong documentation skills in a large scale environment
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle critical and stressful situations
• Proven customer relationship skills
