Role and Responsibilities
Summary
The Program/Systems Engineer provides technical project expertise and technical guidance in solving complex hardware/software engineering problems. Provides technical support through all phases of hardware/software design analysis, development, integration, implementation and testing. Determines appropriate use of technologies in solving engineering problems. Skills in Systems, Hardware, Software, Curriculum, Information Systems and Test functional disciplines are applied to develop, coordinate, and execute program modifications and ECP projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Act as technical lead for all program modifications
* Oversee project teams to ensure successful execution of program modifications to include subcontractors
* Ensure flight simulation product matches the aircraft and meets contractual requirements
* Ensure that all functional areas within engineering are compliant to the technical requirements for each assigned project
* Implement corrective measures for all HSI issues that are not compliant to requirements
* Provide technical expertise during subjective and objective evaluations of training devices and courseware
* Author, coordinate, and lead presentations of formal reviews with customers as required by assigned project
* Provide expert support for Program Managers on all technical matters
* Act as the focal point for all customer technical matters
* Responsible for hands on solutions to hardware and software problems
* Create Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimate reviews, Firm Fixed Price cost estimate reviews, Technical Specification generation and reviews, Responses to Request for Proposal (RFP), and Technical supervision and assessment of sub-contracted efforts
* Monitor manufacturing issues during construction and control of any corrective measures deemed necessary to fulfill technical requirements
* Implement corrective measures for all integration that are not compliant with requirements
* Participate in delivery and final sell off/acceptance of modifications
* Receives technical and administrative direction from Modifications Manager
* May provide guidance to junior team members
Qualifications and Education Requirements
* BS Eng., Computer Science, Software, Mathematics, Physics or related engineering field and a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience, with extensive experience in systems integration and analysis of military hardware and software systems/processes.
* Must have experience in the design and delivery of products to the US military. This experience must include software development, computer system hardware layout, and networks.
* Understanding of aircraft design
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required
* Extensive knowledge of US DoD procurement practices and regulations is preferred
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
* Must exhibit high performance and capability to work in a team environment
* Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision
* Understanding of military protocols and customs
* Must be able to effectively deliver oral presentations to management and customers
Language Skills
* Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents and procedures or government regulations
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.
Mathematical Skills
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, fractions, percentages and ratios to practical situations
Reasoning Ability
* Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Preferred Skills
* Specific experience with KC-135 flight simulation, courseware, and aircraft flight dynamics is preferred
Security Responsibilities
Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
* Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

* Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock and from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
* Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.

* Must be able to work overtime as required
* Up to 25% domestic travel as required
* Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit
* Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery
* Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment
