The Role: Xylem is seeking to hire a Fleet Safety Coordinator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: develop materials and conduct training for drivers, ensure vehicle driver training is completed with every active driver, conduct audits, provide training, data analysis, trend report, dashboard updates and inspections of private fleet to monitor compliance and DOT compliance audits.
This position will also assist oversight and administration of both Commercial & non-Commercial drivers & vehicles. In partnership with pertinent stakeholders, ensures the safety and compliance strategy is aligned with broader organizational goals.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
• Conduct incident trend analyses and make recommendations aimed at reducing claims.
• Assist with implementation DOT medical surveillance and audit programs working with Human Resources, Xylem Shared Services and Donlen.
• Assist with developing and deliver employee fleet related training in a wide variety of settings such as LMS and the Global Alert Driving Program.
• Anticipate and identify health and safety hazards in the workplace and work to implement new technologies.
• Conduct inspections, surveys, assessments, audits and investigations that result in measures to identify risks and ensure occupational safety. Implement third party audits.
• Prepare and effectively present comprehensive written and oral reports to the Senior Leadership Team related to Fleet Scoreboard.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, administration, professionals, line-employees, outside agencies and contractors and the public.
• Assist managing documentation and regulatory research to ensure full compliance with DOT and FMCSA rules.
• Partners with the Safety Director to develop and consequently implement/roll out fleet safety systems, policies, and routines which continuously assess risk, set goals, drive accountability, implement best practices, and monitor/improve fleet safety performance.
• Work closely with field management to develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives and projects to drive cost reductions, internal efficiency and service improvements, i.e., effective route planning.
• Ensure full utilization of Donlen telematics/Geotab features and data in order to optimize compliance with federal regulations.
• Leverage telematics data and insights to analyze causes of accidents, driver behavior and near misses. Identify risk trends and develop plans to mitigate the risk.
• Communicate information effectively within all business channels of the organization.
• Work locally with corporate council with respect to fleet litigation and/or claims.
• Participate in EHS audits and inspections of facilities across North America.
• Remain current and up to date on all DOT regulations and oversee all aspects of compliance efforts
• Oversee driver qualification (DQ) process by ensuring new drivers are fully compliant before released to drive and ensuring ongoing compliance with current drivers
• Work with HR to ensure random drug & alcohol program is followed
• Monitor renewals for all required fleet permits/licenses/registrations
• Administer driver scorecard, safety analytics and video
• Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Occupational Health, Safety Administration/Management, Transportation, Logistics or similar field of study or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 3+ years’ extensive knowledge of DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and requirements
• Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills
• Advanced computer skills: Word, Excel (pivot table capability), PowerPoint presentations
• Commitment to excellence and high standards
• Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Previous experience in the use of vehicle telematics programs
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail

• Field PPE required to be worn: Safety shoes, reflective vest, cap/hard hat, and safety glasses
