Applicants should have at least three years of experience in criminal defense or post-conviction (state post- conviction or federal habeas work) and demonstrable skill in written and oral advocacy. Experience in death penalty defense is preferable. The ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with clients, witnesses, colleagues, and court and agency personnel is essential. Experience interacting with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities is very beneficial. Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and admitted to practice in good standing before the highest court in a state. Bar membership in Florida, or familiarity with Florida capital prosecutions is valued. Applicants must be effective and thoughtful communicators with clients, colleagues, and staff. Applicants should be team-oriented and collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, investigators, staff, and experts.
