Job Description
Job Title: Metallurgist Engineer
Department: Technical
Reports To: Technical Manager
FLSA Status: Salaried - Exempt
Summary: Provides technical services to the Salisbury Operations manufacturing and
Customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Establish, implement, revise and audit standard operating practices and metallurgical procedures.
• Review daily production and make disposition on non-conforming material.
• Reviews product failure data and interprets laboratory tests and analyses to establish or rule out material and process causes.
Annealing Furnaces.
Check each furnace load making certain that each master coil is receiving the correct anneal per production schedule.
Write appropriate cycle for each load of metal to be annealed.
Enter into furnace control computer appropriate data for the annealing cycle.
Randomly monitor all furnaces during the annealing cycle.
Randomly monitor atmosphere and flow rates of annealing furnaces during the annealing cycle.
Randomly inspect for correct spacing of slit coils that are to be annealed suspended on pipe.
Any problems found will be reported to the shift rolling supervisor and plant metallurgist.
Finishing Department.
Separators.
Fill out Quality Assurance Report on each production order processed.
Inspect the product as it is being processed for non-conformance to customer specifications.
Make splice checks on all foils that have a gauge of .00035” or less.
Monitor the separating process for conditions that would be detrimental to product quality.
Slitter
Maintain Quality Assurance Report on all production orders processed.
Inspect the sheet as it is being processed for non-conformance to customer specifications.
Inspect finished coils for non-conformance to customer specifications.

Education and/or Experience:
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Good analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated understanding of metallurgy, manufacturing technologies, and aluminum testing procedures.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
