Procurement is key enabler in driving and supporting Johnson & Johnson’s growth. Being part of procurement organization, the incumbent in this role will be driving and/or supporting all aspect spend performance such as reliability, innovation, costs, supply network readiness and corporate citizenship goals collaborating with wider procurement, and supply chain community.
This role is part of chemicals category supporting Pharmaceutical and Med Tech divisions of Johnson & Johnson. Reporting to chemicals category leader, Incumbent in this role will be primarily responsible for category management activities for defined sub-category spend and will drive spend performance such as reliability, innovation, cost optimization, supply network readiness and corporate citizenship goals
Responsibilities may include:
Sourcing
• Leads or supports sourcing initiatives to identify the right supplier partners and build adequate material capacities to support business
• Develops spend analysis and gathers market intelligence in alignment with business goals
• Influences business decision making to deliver ongoing value improvements and drive competitive advantage
Category Strategy Development
• Develop / Support category sourcing strategy for defined spend portfolio through Business needs assessment, Market intelligence, Supplier evaluations and sourcing choices
• Demonstrates a deep understanding of the business needs and external market trends to support the development of robust sub- category strategies.
• Proactively engages business partners and/or category managers to identify their needs and incorporate those needs into sub-category strategies.
• Develops and drives robust implementation of strategy and communication plan with defined buying channels and contracting strategies.
• Establishes compliance reporting capabilities and track business compliance to strategies
Supplier Management
• Develop and manage supplier partnerships / external manufacturing partnerships to drive performance delivery, risk mitigation, and value through supplier enabled innovation
• Cultivates and leverages strategic relationships with key business partners (e.g. Internal stakeholders, supplier leadership, SRM/category leaders) to shape, optimize, and diversify the supply base.
• Develops innovative and sustainable solutions to identify and mitigate risk, drive long-term, end-to-end value, and achieve unmet business needs. Identifies and pursues opportunities to develop supplier capabilities.
Contracting
• Mitigates business risk through the understanding of commercial, legal and regulatory requirements and the use of efficient contracting channels leveraging standard processes and technology.
• Uses procurement expertise and global business understanding to monitor the negotiation and execution of contracts
• Ensures that agreements and the manner in which they are executed meet business demands of all stakeholders and are aligned with the organization’s overall procurement and business strategy
Agile project support
• Leads, supports or engages as procurement expert in the projects ranging from contracting, supply reliability, innovation and new product development
• Act as procurement expert in support to cross material category specific or cross category or franchise initiatives
• Represent procurement in End-to-End supply chain initiatives of manufacturing network, digital tools/ technology adoption and resiliency
Qualifications
Required
• A minimum of bachelor’s degree; preferably complemented by top-notch MBA or Master’s qualification
• A minimum of 6 years of related work experience (across procurement, or supply chain functions)
• Demonstrated skills in Strategic Procurement, Sourcing, Category and Supplier Management, preferably in the Supply Chain Environment
• Strong stakeholder management skills working with cross category, supply chain and other functional partners.
• Strong business and finance acumen, deep understanding of managing for impact in complex matrix environment
• Proven / demonstrated ability to influence, partner on & shape projects with / without direct team / authority.
• Ability to engage, interact and negotiate value enhancing relationships with suppliers
• Experience in complex stakeholder environment; rich influencing skills; understands complexities of Regulated industries
• Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions
• Travel up to 15% may be required (once safer travel rules apply)
Preferred
• Pharmaceutical, Consumer products, Healthcare supply chain background
• Knowledge of procurement category management
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred (such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, industrial engineering etc.); MBA or master’s degree is advantageous
