Overview
Iovance is seeking a Director of Research to coordinate research activities aiming at generating and optimizing methods to optimize the anti-tumor activity of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) for therapeutic applications. Such projects may include, but not restricted to ex vivo manipulation of T cell co-stimulatory and co-inhibitory pathways, T cell selection strategies, identification of tumor neoepitopes, development of genetically engineered TIL, and development of assays for the characterization of polyclonal T cell products. As a senior member of the Research team, the successful candidate will ensure the timely progress of all research projects.
Specific Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and supervise research projects that investigate TIL and focus on future strategies for enhancing the potency of TIL used for adoptive T cell therapy.
* Oversee a team of talented scientists and research associates and/or technicians.
* Identify, plan, and prioritize tasks involved in the development of the research
* Propose innovative methods and technologies as well as new directions for projects development.
* Maintain high level of professional expertise through regular consulting of scientific literature and attendance of training and/or scientific seminars.
* Generate nonclinical written sections of regulatory and clinical documents.
* Deliver the company message at international scientific meetings.
* Provide consultation to collaborators and work with external vendors on various initiatives.
* Manage resources.
* Identify patentable inventions and support their filings.
* Develop budgets, policies, and procedures.
* Report to executive management.

Education and Qualifications
* PhD in Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or related discipline required with 5 - 8 years of industry experience required
* In-depth knowledge of cancer biology and immuno-oncology as well as familiarity with current immunotherapeutic approaches.
* Extensive managerial experience.
* Drug development experience; great understanding of nonclinical requirements. Outstanding writing skills; analytical mind.
* Excellent communication skills in person and over conference calls with a variety of individuals from internal Research staff to academic collaborators, business partners, lawyers, and executive team.
* Initiative-taking individual, who is used to challenging environments, adapts to new situations and wants to be part of a dynamic team; must have collaborative spirit
