Applied Research Scientist I_Health Outcomes & Behavior Science & Research Hours: Mon-Fri Day Shift - Full Time Paygrade/Wages/Salary Info: RCH AS1 - 34.9900 - 43.7400
Applied Research Scientist I The Applied Research Scientist will be working closely with faculty in Moffitt#s Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior under the supervision of Dr. B. Lee Green. Dr. Green is a Senior member in the Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior and has had active portfolio involving multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research, primarily in cancer disparities, health equity, community-based research, and clinical trials participation. The Applied Research Scientist will be responsible for helping to manage Dr. Green#s future research projects and initiatives related to cancer disparities and health equity.## The Applied Research Scientist will also collaborate with other faculty across the cancer center who work in the disparities space. # Position Highlights: Develops, initiates, and manages protocols and oversees day-to-day study activities for all studies. Manages collection, analyzing, and tracking of data for manuscripts and grant applications. Supervises trainees and staff to ensure that projects are on time and progressing as expected. Writes and prepares manuscripts for a variety of research studies. Generates scientific sections of grant applications with appropriate guidance, including preliminary data. Manages the scientific advancement of multiple studies simultaneously. The Ideal Candidate: Demonstrated experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment. In-depth knowledge of how epidemiological research is conducted. A commitment to reproducible and open science workflows. A critical, independent, and creative thinker. A professional, personable, organized individual with research experience in the academic setting. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Grant writing experience is highly desired. In depth knowledge of how social/behavioral research is conducted is highly desired. Responsibilities: Participates in the planning, implementation and conduct of research projects in collaboration with the overseeing Investigator. This includes contribution to preparation of grants, clinical protocols, progress reports, scientific manuscripts, data analysis, and daily management activities. Trains new staff and serves as a resource to other projects within the laboratory under the Investigator#s direction. May work individually or may have significant oversight over other less experienced research personnel. Assists in planning and developing research projects within the laboratory under the Investigator#s direction. Maintains research skills and acquires new ones as necessary. Maintains membership and regularly attends appropriate professional associations, conferences, workshops, lectures, and seminars as supported by the overseeing Investigators.# Credentials and Qualifications: Minimum of an M.D. or Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to epidemiology, biostatistics, psychology, math, internal medicine, machine learning or related field. Postdoctoral experience preferred, but not required.
