Full-Time Plant Job Details Description BestCo Inc. is a privately-held manufacturer located and operated in Mooresville, North Carolina. BestCo is known industry-wide as a leading developer and marketer of innovative, consumer health care products for retailers and marketers of OTC drug products and dietary supplements. BestCo specializes in manufacturing solid dose lozenges, soft chews, and other confectionery-based delivery forms of consumer healthcare products for both private label and contract manufacturing partners.  BestCo combines nearly a century’s worth of confectionery experience with emerging consumer healthcare insights to create unique products for our customers.  BestCo strives to be a pioneer and innovator in the field of confectionery delivery forms of OTC drugs and dietary supplements. Check out our website at www.bestco.com or our social media pages on LinkedIn and Facebook. BestCo is currently searching for a Cooker Operator - 12-hour Night Shift to be located at our Mooresville, North Carolina facility.  POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direct supervision of the production supervisor, the Cooker operator is responsible for fully understanding the principles of the continuous cooker’s function,  able to navigate the touch screen controls and how they interrelate. Must be accurate, able to write legible, follow all cGMP practices and keep area neat and clean. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Fully understand the principles of the continuous cooker’s functions Fully understand and navigate the touch screen controls, push button switches, and operator panels for the entire cooking process of equipment and understand the effects of changes AND the interrelationships Responsible for the correct operation of the proper cooking process flow of equipment, including the batching system and continuous cooker Able to relieve out and operate all areas of the continuous cooker, including batching, cook, depositing, etc. Responsible for the verification of ingredients being used in production and that the ingredients are of good quality within tolerances set forth in the batch record Responsible for all processing documentation that is associated with product being produced and that the information therein is accurate and legible Responsible for the quality of products being produced on the line, ensuring all dosages, set points, temperatures, and any other parameters set forth in batch records are being strictly adhered to with minimal variance Must be mechanically inclined and be in constant search of any mechanical issues that may impede production Responsible for the daily lubrication, cleaning, upkeep of the equipment train and reporting of any machinery defects to Maintenance and Engineering Ensure steam, pneumatic, and electrical systems for the operation are in sound mechanical condition and are operating efficiently Must be able to change products on the run with minimal waste and with no cross-contamination Must be able to effectively communicate any and all issues with supervision, QA, and QC Responsible for ensuring surrounding work area is clean and cGMP compliant at all times Understand and utilize the correct hand tools needed for tasks Plan ahead and communicate upcoming product changes with affected personnel and verify needed supplies are on hand Perform detailed cleaning and CIP’s as needed and as required per cGMP’s Follow BestCo’s LOTO Policy and procedures to ensure that machines or equipment are isolated from all potentially hazardous energy before performing cleaning, service, or maintenance activities where they may be an unexpected energization, start-up, or release of stored energy. Read a refractometer and pH meter KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to complete all required documentation (includes, but is not limited to, batch records, log books, notebooks, raw data (charts, graphs, scans, etc.), validation protocols, labels and cGMP-related forms). Self-starter High level of personal integrity Ability to handle multi tasks Hygiene oriented/ Quality conscious Good team worker High level of dexterity Versatility/ flexibility a must Willing to work overtime as needed Mathematically inclined is a must Good writing skills Quality/Safety conscious Ability to work in a high temperature environment Frequent heavy lifting of 50 lbs. overhead or on shoulder Ability to make quick decisions and react accordingly Mechanical aptitude Production and efficiency oriented Ability to operate equipment with PLC controls REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: High School Diploma or GED 6 months Machine operator experience, or Certified Production Technician through NCMI Willing and able to clean and sanitize machines Frequently moves/lifts raw material/equipment weighting 35 to 50 lbs. around the plant floor or overhead.
