The SITEC 3 Network Architect is a key management billet directly supporting the SITEC Program Manager.   The Network Architect performs tier four network support in accordance with the SIE OPORD.  Candidates pursuing the Network Architect position need an extensive background in networking technology. They must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.  They design and implement computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. May also design network and computer security measures. May research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software. Candidates must have a strong background in the design and maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), as well as an excellent working knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols (e.g., Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Multiprotocol Labeling Switching (MPLS). Typical duties include: Assessing business and applications requirements for corporate data and voice networks; Planning, designing, and upgrading network installation projects; Establishing and maintaining backup, version-control and malware defense systems; Troubleshooting network architectures and recommending system fixes and enhancements; Making recommendations for leveraging network installations and reducing operational costs. Educational Requirements:  A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, a Mathematics-intensive discipline, or a similar field is recommended. Certification Requirements:  Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Applicable 8570 Security Requirements.
