The performance of these deliverables will be primarily conducted in the field with some administrative elements requiring office time. It is the responsibility of the Timber Manager to oversee management of Duke Energy's timber portfolio in support of the company's Sustainable Forestry initiative. This is accomplished by performing periodic burning and selected harvesting of the company’s timber resources. It is also the responsibility of the Timber Manager to participate in the protection and maintenance of the company’s assets and rights-of-way. This is accomplished by performing and overseeing danger tree, nuisance animal and trespass removal as well as maintenance of facility grounds and access roads. The Timber Manager is also supporting the company’s overall carbon reduction goals by instituting the Sustainable Forestry Caron Initiative. This initiative aims to identify the carbon load retention within our timber portfolio and once completed, will be evaluated to determine its value within our overall carbon goals.Job Responsibilities:The intern will be responsible for learning, understanding, and documenting the current processes and procedures of Timber Management deliverables.
