Job Title: Workers Compensation Coordinator
Department: Orthopedics
Reports to: Office Supervisor/Office Manager
Job Summary:
This position manages all Workers Compensation items for the department. This position is responsible for  scheduling work comp appointments, collecting medical records for appointments and prepayments. Candidate must be a team player and able to handle fast paced environments. Orthopaedic knowledge is a plus.
**Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role required. Work comp experience required.**

Essential Functions:
• Answers phones and assists callers
• Makes appointments
• Takes messages
• Assists with medication refill requests
• Handles patient’s requests or needs
• Accurately enter demographic and insurance information per company policy for proper billing
• Properly schedule patients using correct reason codes and follow the physician’s template
• Schedule IME and Worker’s Compensation cases acquiring all necessary information for appointments from the adjuster and documenting the information
• Fax the proper forms over to the adjuster for pre-pays on Worker’s Compensation appointments per our billing policy
• Request records on Worker’s Compensation cases following our office protocol for physician review and approval of the case
• Send out new patient paperwork packets for upcoming appointments
• Fill out same day appointment requests acquiring all necessary information per the physician policy
• Addresses Intergy tasks in a timely manner / Responds back within 24 hours or sooner for any voicemails that may have been left.
• Enters all related Work Comp info into the Practice Management System, including Nurse Case Manager or Adjustor contact numbers, dates of injury, claim numbers and any additional information needed for these cases.
• When down time occurs, assist with the backup phone que for the Ortho department.
• Forwarding of Transcription and Clinical Data
• Forwards provider correspondence and/or reports to Nurse case managers and Adjustor
• Follows up on any DWC 25 forms or other forms needed by the patient or the carriers in conjunction with Medical Records
Additional Responsibilities:
• Maintains an organized and clean work area
• Participates in maintenance of front office supplies
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
• Travels to different FMC work locations as requested
Job Qualifications:
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Strong customer service orientation
• Excellent telephone etiquette
• Strong team player
• Basic computer proficiency
• Minimum 1 year of previous experience
Physical and Mental Demands:
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing up to eight (8) hours per day
• The ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems and make appropriate decisions
• High level of oral and written communication skills
• Uphold the highest level of confidentiality
Occupational Exposure:
• Low risk exposure to blood borne pathogens and chemical hazards
