The Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting (TAA) division is a leader in tax preparation solutions, both in cloud and on-premise supporting firms with tax research, learning, preparation, and automation through advanced software for thousands of firms across North America (NA).

The Marketing Analytics team is at the heart of TAA NA and we partner with leaders within Sales, Product Management, Customer Retention, Demand Generation, Ecommerce, Finance, and many others to help Wolters Kluwer maintain a competitive edge in the market. As a Sr Data Scientist / Engineer, you will be leading transformation within our Marketing team as we bring in data sources to support data driven decision making across the business. This is an opportunity to improve existing data warehouse solutions and build into a scalable data foundation.
You will be part of a team that is developing cutting edge data solutions, such as new tools that model key customer attributes and leading indicators to predict customer churn as well as leveraging artificial intelligence / machine learning to extract insights from structured and unstructured data to enhance our customer outreach, retention, marketing strategies and campaigns. Our goal is to take data from reactive information to predictive insights and our analytics team plays a critical role, as it helps manage technology and data capabilities required to execute strategic initiatives.
We are looking for passionate data engineers that can identify new data sources, build data pipelines, create data assets, curate data, and manage databases from a best practices perspective. You will be a key member of the team providing thought leadership with a strong technical and data management skillset.
The experience we look for you to have:
• Prioritize, design, develop, and maintain data integration processes within an existing data warehouse environment; prior experience curating data to enable analytics teams is a plus
• Work with data teams across the organization to ingest new data sources, improve data architecture, and create data curation strategies, building scalable data frameworks that improve analytics capabilities
• Ensure data quality, completeness, reliability, and monitor platforms to resolve issues before business impacts
• Collect data from complex, and disconnected structured and unstructured datasets from our products, ERP systems (SAP), CRM (SFDC), surveys, and qualitative data sources to support analytical and business requirements
• Translate complex business problems into scalable data workstreams and work with key stakeholders, partners, and teams to promote solution to production system
• Comfortably interact with a wide array of stakeholders to gather analytics requirements, and manage priorities, roadmaps, and relationships or dependencies
• Partner with BI analysts, and data scientists to protype, develop, and implement analytics solutions which include data engines, models, reports, and dashboards
• Launch new data technologies, and software tools into existing data frameworks and ERP/CRM solutions
• Understanding of data management best practices and how data pipelines, ETL, etc. should be developed with a belief that data platforms can run unattended
• Develop data into user friendly APIs for use in Salesforce, SAP, or other applications
• Use a robust understanding of coding languages, tools, technologies, and data architecture frameworks to tie data and systems together
• Deep understanding of SQL with two or more of the following - Python, Scala, Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Parquet, etc.
• Proven track record of implementing or managing modern data and cloud solutions such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, MS SQL, Oracle, Informatica, and others
• 3-5 yrs of experience in analytics or data related field with a focus in managing data, database design, architecture, ETL, and use of APIs
• 3+ years of hands-on SQL experience and Python coding
• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree (focus in Analytics, Data, Computer Science, Statistics, or Math preferred)
• Masters degree in a data related field an asset
• Basic data visualization experience is an asset
• Software industry experience and depth supporting marketing or sales is a plus
