Responsibilities
The Network Architect’s (NA) role involves the design, development, and implementation of network and computer systems. The NA will provide expert technical advice to other stakeholders as requirements are gathered and vetted to begin the engineering process. Once a solution is designed, approved, and implemented, the NA will work with systems engineers and administrators to ensure that systems are updated, patched, and maintained to comply with security best practices. NA must be able to collaborate with other engineers and administrators to resolve incidents related to the network in a timely manner. The NA must maintain detailed documentation of the network’s infrastructure, including configuration items, interconnection diagrams, and more. The NA must keep abreast of new and emerging standards and technologies to provide technical advice regarding improving existing capabilities and integrating new solutions. The role’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Deliver high-quality Network Design and Development, Site to Site Virtual Private Network (VPN), Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Trusted Internet Connection (TIC), Network Backbone, integration with existing Internet Service Provider (ISP), Wireless Network, Wide Area Network (WAN), IP Address Management (IPAM), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Out of Band (OOB), and Cloud Network Services in compliance with project SLAs
• Support the management and control of hardware and software configurations and baselines
• Research, plan, coordinate, and implement network operations with network support agencies and programs
• Plan and coordinate for the implementation of technologies to connect and enhance program objectives
• Maintain and update technical architecture documentation
• Troubleshoot and provide problem resolution
• Support resources responsible for security implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and vulnerability remediation
• Contribute to strategic planning and proof of concept efforts
• Assist in preparation of training materials and user guides
• Develop and implement benchmarking for network performance
• Provide Deployment and Release Engineering support for all development efforts across the program
• Support development teams with building, baselining, and releasing software and hardware using established Configuration Management (CM) procedures
• Ensure complete traceability of hardware and software baseline changes through documented CM process
• Define, implement, and improve hardware and software CM processes and procedures
• Supervision of Network and Systems Engineers
Mandatory Qualifications
• Top Secret SCI Eligibility within the last 2 years
• Bachelor's with 8+ years (or commensurate experience)
• Within each of the Cisco Certifications, the following specializations are needed: Routing and Switching, Service Provider, Data Center, and Wireless
• Knowledge of and experience with network tools such as, Cisco ISE, Cisco APIC/ACI Cluster Management, Cisco AnyConnect, Cisco DNA, TACACS, Riverbed, Docker Containers, VMWare VSphere, Cisco Sourcefire, RedHat, Radware DDOS, Tenable, Active Directory, and Splunk
• Supervisory experience of 6+ personnel
• Experience with Cyber Security Plans and Management (Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), Patch Management)
• Current DOD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (Sec+CE, SSCP, CND, CCNA Security, etc.)
Desired Qualifications
• CCIE Certified
• Experience operating Juniper hardware/ software
• Experience with and knowledge of the military operational environment and backbone network infrastructure
• Detailed skills and experience delivering network services, including all aspects of operations, maintenance, and change management
• In-depth knowledge and expertise applying data-driven practices and tools to deliver, manage and optimize service level and performance arrangements for customer relationship management, performance management and IT network services domains
• Extensive knowledge of encryption devices and network security
• Knowledge of various transmission mediums to include SATCOM and tactical radio.
• Knowledge of Risk Management Framework and Cybersecurity Implementation
