ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Incubation Program promotes, encourages, and enhances the research activities of USF System faculty, staff, and students, and brings together the strengths of the USF System and the region, providing a critical interface to move university and community research into the marketplace, stimulate high-tech and biotech industries, and create jobs.  The Incubation Program is comprised of three components:  USF CONNECT, the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator, and the Student Innovation Incubator.  Clients are USF faculty, staff, and students; small business owners; and technology and economic development leaders in the community, especially representatives of government, business, and industry
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting with the marketing and communications strategy for the Incubation Program, as well as participating in coordination of a wide variety of programs and activities designed to promote and publicize the Incubation Program. The position assists with special events, including seminars and forums, drafts press releases and events in coordination with Research & Innovation and University Communications & Marketing.  This position drafts and edits high profile marketing and promotional materials, such as brochures, flyers, and online and multimedia content, responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with the marketing and communications strategy for the Incubation Program. Develops, edits, and disseminates materials to publicize and promote the efforts and successes of the departments and provided program initiatives. Highlights the successes of all University start-up companies and Incubator companies, as well as venture and other funding efforts with created materials including press releases, magazine articles, web articles, calendars, brochures, flyers, signage, photography, video productions, social media posts, newsletters and additional communication tools, as necessary. Works with vendors to produce materials as needed. Develops and submits materials for start-up companies to various awards, surveys, competitions, funding opportunities and conferences.
Assists with the implementation of short and long-range marketing goals and objectives for the program; researches public relation needs and appropriate audiences for targeted marketing efforts. Works with the Incubator program's media contact and works collaboratively with other communication positions throughout USF and Research & Innovation for the development of high profile publications, as they relate to university research and incubation.
Maintains and assists with updates to the programs websites with news, highlights, events, and seminars; assists with the development of and updates a calendar of events that represents upcoming deadlines for funding opportunities and conferences, creation of mail campaigns and use of social media to promote award opportunities and events for startup and incubator companies.
Assists with the organization of seminars and other forums or events to facilitate the development and education of students and researchers on startups,  an early stage funding opportunities, y and education matters throughout the University and USF community for USF CONNECT and the I-CORPS programs. Under the supervision of the Communication & Marketing Officer coordinates speakers, secures event space, designs flyers for publicizing the event, communicates the event with potential audience members through email, social media and other web- based distributions, creates signage, secures technology for day of the event and helps set up and cleanup after the event.
Assists with other duties that arise because of the virtual nature of the Incubator program, as assigned by the AVP, Associate Director, or Communication & Marketing Officer. Works with USF CONNECT Program Planner/Analyst to respond to inquiries and request for information from the media or public; assist with website maintenance and virtual engagement (including social media, news releases and photos).
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a High School diploma and 5 years of related experience, OR a bachelor's degree and 1 year of directly related experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
