In this role you will own product engineering strategy and deliverables that culminate in a best in class payments experience. You will work with our small and mid-sized merchants to understand their needs, articulate the product vision, identify success metrics, and collaborate with cross functional teams to enhance existing products and to build and launch new product initiatives for the North American market. The Product Engineer will drive the transformation of the payments space via design, development, manufacturing, testing and the distribution of our Point of Sale hardware product suite.
The Product Engineering will leverage expertise in multiple areas related to payments, including point-of-sale hardware solutions, point-of-sale infrastructure, payment PIN pads and terminals, credit and debit card processing, risk, controls, and compliance. Your focus will cross all merchant verticals including retail, restaurants, ecommerce, and professional services with a focus on small to medium sized businesses . The ideal candidate is a highly-organized and self-motivated leader who is collaborative and excels by working with internal and external teams to bring our payment solutions to market with exponential SMB client value.
As a senior product manager with a technical background you possess a blend of engineering prowess to establish the vision, lead the design, drive the roadmap and manage the market-delivery of advanced payments hardware technology. The ideal candidate is a highly-organized and self-motivated engineer who is collaborative and excels by working with internal and external teams to bring our payment solutions to market with exponential client value. As a Product Engineer with a proven background you possess a blend of hardware and software mechanical analysis, component strategy, and tactical execution skills while receiving input and guidance from a broad range of stakeholders.
What You Will Do:
• Manage hardware device subsystems design including touch displays, batteries, input/output devices, sensors, high speed communication components, interface protocols, speakers, receipt printers, PIN pads and biometrics
• Drive the evaluation and selection of displays, batteries, power management integrated circuits and other componentry for use in our product offering
• Partner with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimize the product set
• Drive the design and development of product prototypes, design verification and optimization, OEM engineering leadership, system bring up, debugging and manufacturing coordination
• Investigate new technologies and provide industry thought leadership to drive implementation into new products and offerings
• Solve complex hardware issues, track hardware performance with a focus on continuous product improvement
• Driving our partners to deliver hardware products that meet or exceed the product specification, cost and project schedule
• Develop key performance indicators for ODM/OEM and partners
• Design, develop and release innovative cutting-edge payment product offerings
• Manage schematic capture constraint driven PCB layout and design
What We Are Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with 7+ years of experience in electronic product design
• Electrical Engineering experience with a strong success record of shipping consumer or point of sale electronic products
• Experience in manufacturing bring-up and support
• Experience with schematic capture, board layout, and simulation tools
• Experience with Hardware/RF lab equipment
• Experience with evaluation of components to use in new products
• Experience with hardware development for Android systems and iOS preferred Experience designing high volume products from beginning to end and managing/leading offshore ODMs
• Experience in consumer electronics designing high volume, low power, and high-quality products
• Experience in the following areas is desirable: 4G/5G/LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi product design knowledge, EMI, ESD, and PCB issues
• Experience in EMV Payment and PCI Security certifications
• Experience designing, building and launching Point of Sale products a plus
