Position Description: OR Care Technician
The OR Care Technician II is a member of the health care team who performs direct and indirect patient care tasks under the direction of and oversight of an RN.
Responsibilities:
• Taking care of supplies and equipment
• Assists in the operating room during surgery and in the recovery room
• Support duties to include the cleaning and maintenance of supplies, instruments and sterilizers
• Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to the preparation of patients for surgery / procedures
• Established knowledge of creating and maintaining a sterile field, scrubbing and assisting within the surgical procedure and the use of specialized beds and positioning equipment, as well as sterilizers and specialized video equipment, navigation, and lasers used with the department
• The OR Care Tech II also functions as a preceptor for new staff
Requirements:
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• High School or Equivalent
• 1 year in Patient Care or Surgical Related
