A self-starter that takes ownership of daily priorities that will shift depending on need. The Maintenance Controls Engineer will also assist electricians and controls technicians troubleshooting controls, electrical and instrumentation issues within the production line as well as training electricians as needed. This position will qualify for 401k, bonus program and career paths. This is a hands on position that allows the individual to train others, work with programing and structure needs of PLC equipment. ExpectationsDevelop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and involvement.Analyze requirements pertaining to technical calculations supporting design and including electrical requirements. Specification of equipment, electrical control systems, process function, and design for new equipment and implementation.Modify or maintain instrumentation and controls design for machinery and facilities.Support manufacture, build and validation of systems that include specifying PLC system architecture for new installations.Support PLC programmers with machine control concepts and hardware selection.Train controls technicians and electricians on programming systems such as Allen Bradly platforms including RSLogix 5, 500, 5000.Provide support for fellow engineers within the maintenance department with electrical and instrumentation designs for their projects.Maintain and update electrical drawings in the document control system.Continuous support of maintenance personnel with troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation breakdowns.Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.Understand PLC networking which includes Data Highway and Ethernet addressing.Machine electrical part research, application and installation.Working ConditionsManufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment. Work will require standing and walking for up to 75% of the time. Lighting and temperature is adequate. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Education, Experience, AND SKILLSEducation: BS degree in Electrical EngineeringProfessional experience:3-5 years with BS or 6-10 years of electrical controls & instrumentation experience in leu of degreeCommunications: Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsLanguages:EnglishSkills:Proficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley PLCs, Allen Bradley Powerflex drives, Allen Bradley Panel views, Allen Bradley 1395 DC drives and ignition software; Autocad. Transfer of knowledge to others through training.
