The Business Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.Responsibilities:This role is within a first line of defense team that oversees Markets and Securities Services sanctions risk and controls globally, and supports senior regional and global team members.Work collaboratively with Financial Crimes Risk seniors, Front Office, Operations, and Technology to assess sanctions risks on a client and product basis and evaluate sanctions controls.  Support design and implementation of control enhancements, where needed.Maintain current knowledge and understanding of new and changing sanctions requirements and support continuous assessment of the impact on Markets and Securities Services clients, products, and services.Participate in initial pre-transaction review for permissibility, including intake, preliminary fact-finding and assessment, tracking, reporting; escalate to Compliance and Legal, where needed.Partake in Markets and Securities Services response to new sanctions programs, including communication framework, identification of existing touchpoints and exposures, and consideration of changes to control environment. Document the processes developed and actions taken; track matters to ensure each are addressed and closed.Maintain oversight through review of metrics, monitoring of activity, and tracking of corrective action plans.Prepare presentations to update senior management and various governance committees on sanctions developments, emerging risks, control issues and/or enhancements.Partner with other colleagues, as needed, to support sanctions initiatives and other Financial Crimes Risk-related projects.Qualifications:5+ years experience at a financial institution, consulting firm, law firm, regulator, or similar experience; Compliance or Legal background preferred.Must have knowledge of both economic sanctions (OFAC mandatory, EU and UK preferred) and securities products and services (including equities, bonds, derivatives, FX, prime, and custody).Fact finding and analytical skills required.Organizational skills needed to document efforts and track matters to completion.Strong oral and written communication skills mandatory.Understands sense of urgency and deadlines.Capable of juggling multiple tasks and recalibrating as priorities change.Education:Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, MBA or JD a plus.-------------------------------------------------Job Family Group: Risk Management-------------------------------------------------Job Family:Business Risk & Controls------------------------------------------------------Time Type:Full time------------------------------------------------------Citi is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.Qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.Citigroup Inc. and its subsidiaries ("Citi”) invite all qualified interested applicants to apply for career opportunities.
