Job Responsibilities
The Broadband Terminals Software group is responsible for connecting millions of users to Viasat's world class satellite networks, including residential home users in the United States and abroad, airline passengers, government and military personnel, and rural communities.
As part of this team, you will be involved in integrating the latest software features and automating interactions with the modem software to support continuous deployment to production users. Our team members enjoy working closely with each other utilizing an Agile development methodology which gives you flexibility to work on and learn new aspects of our system. We build and maintain our own Python libraries and scripts, control terminal software deployment to our test bed using tools such as Git, Artifactory, and Jenkins, and monitor software performance in test and in production. Being a member of the Terminals team gives you exposure to a wide variety of Viasat's projects such as the video streaming partnership with Disney+, hybrid satellite and terrestrial Internet solutions, and the Viasat-3 next generation satellite.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
* Experience with automation scripting
* Familiar with navigating Linux OS
Preferences
* Prior experience with Python
* Foundational understanding of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and/or STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle)
* Knowledge of signal processing and communication theory
* Knowledge of wireless communication networks
* Previous experience in automation, software test, or software development
* Knowledge of or experience with deployment tools such as Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, Amazon Web Services
* Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, HTTPs, and DHCP network fundamentals

At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. For Colorado-based jobs only: The minimum for this position is $74,000 annually; however, base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
