Hours: 40 hours per week
Hiring Range: $50,000.00 - $54,000.00
The Healthy Cabarrus Substance Use Coalition was formed in 2013 in response to the identification of substance abuse as a priority issue in the 2012 Community Needs Assessment. The Coalition is comprised of 20 community leaders representing mental health, public health, healthcare, education, law enforcement, the faith-based community, pharmacies and others. The Substance Use Program Coordinator will work with Healthy Cabarrus staff and the Coalition to develop a long-term strategic action plan and implement environmental substance use prevention and harm reduction strategies.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Oversee overall Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant operations for Healthy Cabarrus Substance Use Coalition
• Oversee in the overall Prevent Drug Overdose grant implementation
• Keep records of expenditures and submit necessary finance forms and documentation to be submitted to supervisor for approval
• Prepare for monthly coalition meetings, including development of handouts, presentations and coordination of logistical needs
• Provides support and facilitation of all DFC data collection and reporting requirements
• Deliver presentations, coalition communication and disseminate information
• Build and maintain relationships between and among community partners
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Service area from an accredited college or university; Must possess 1-3 years of progressive responsibility in program implementation and coordination; Experience in community health education, substance use prevention and working with parents and youth preferred; background in substance abuse prevention, tobacco control or health education programming preferred; or equivalent.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
• Must be proficient in Microsoft applications
• Possess ability to organize work flow and coordinate activities
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing with community organizations, the public, volunteers, grantors, employees and other departments within CHA
• Must be able to problem solve within scope of responsibility, multi task and take initiative
• General knowledge in developing, planning and implementing grant programs and managing grant budgets
• Possess ability to project positive image and maintain professional interactions with community professionals, volunteers, general public, clients, agency personnel and other community contacts
• Thorough knowledge and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, proofreading and program terminology to compose correspondence, reports and other materials
• Must embrace innovative models to support those with a substance use disorder or in recovery
