Software Engineering Manager (TRU Simulation Training) - Tampa, FL
JOB SUMMARY:
The Software Engineering Manager is highly proficient in the discipline in developing software, project management, and team development. The successful candidate will have a proven history of leading teams to deliver high quality software across multiple platforms. The candidate will manage the Simulator Systems’ Team, producing software which surrounds the aircraft simulation. The candidate will have experience collaborating with Project Engineers, Team Leads, Developers, and Program Managers to deliver high-fidelity software, meeting project requirements for TRU Products. The Software Engineering Manager reports to the Director of Engineering.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review specifications, designs, test plans, and code
• Work with team to produce software architecture design
• Provide technical guidance to the simulator systems team members and project leaders
• Work with product management to define and prioritize product enhancement and features
• Review high level requirements and collaborate with project managers, project engineers, and system architects to define tasks, acceptance criteria, and software designs
• Prepare simulator systems design and architect approach for proposal efforts
• Provide labor estimations for budgets, proposals, and schedules
• Supervise group members, identify, and resolve issues
• Identify and allocate team resources to program teams based on skill, knowledge, and ability
• Oversee creation and validation of simulator systems product development and design specifications
• Work with top level management to define and recruit top talent
• Set up performance goals for team members, evaluate performance, provide coaching and facilitate professional development
• Develop and motivate leaders, highly functional teams, and a collaborative and stimulating work environment
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelors or advance degree in Computer or Software Engineering (or equivalent)
• 8 - 10 years of Software Design experience and at least 3 years of leading or managing development teams
• 5 Years of Aircraft Simulator Experience preferred
QUALIFICATONS:
• Experience with C software developers
• Experience with Unix/Linux
• Experience with software design methodologies and best coding standards
• Strong technical and business aptitude
• Strong project management skills and keen attention to detail
• Experience working with customers and product managers to identify business needs and translate those into software requirements
• Focused on driving change and continuous improvement
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Professionally mature interpersonal skills
• Ability to interact with executives
• Creative problem-solver
