Date Posted: 2022-08-19-07:00Country: United States of AmericaLocation: CAG01: CTD-Athens, GA 700 Olympic Drive, Athens, GA, 30601 USAThe Product Engineering Department in Athens, Ga is seeking a self-motivated Engineer to work in the Product Safety Team.  This team is tasked with ensuring product meets safety standards for North America across the following product lines:  Truck, Trailer, APU, GENSET, and Solara.  The role entails supporting and approving project development projects, and investigating and determining root cause analysis of incidents that occur in the field. In this position, the Product Safety Engineer will have the opportunity to work all aspects of the product from supporting R&D to manufacturing and end use with the customer. This will require working in a cross-functional environment including communicating with other Engineers, both at factory and R&D levels.Carrier is a leading provider of HVAC, refrigeration, fire, security, and building automation technologies. Enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Strong passion for a career in Product Safety and a desire for EngineeringDemonstrates an analytical approach to problem-solving, learning agilityExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to articulate technical problems within teamsStrong team and interpersonal skills, ability to work in project teams in an international environmentKnowledge of and experience with SFMEA/DFMEA/PFMEA principles as related to product safety and root cause/ and risk assessment (preferred skill)Demonstrated use of lab instruments and data acquisition devices for analyzing and testing mechanical and electrical components (preferred skill)Knowledge of refrigeration principles and systems is a plusDemonstrated ability to deliver projects/tasks on schedulePractical application of textbook knowledge requiredAbility to work well with Suppliers, Peers, Management, and Cross-Functional DepartmentsProficient with MS Office SuitePeriodic travel for field investigations ResponsibilitiesReview design changes against safety requirements and complete risk assessments.Work closely with service and field organizations to obtain data, conduct reviews, and get samples.Review SFMEA/DFMEA tools to ensure component and system requirements are acceptableConduct technical reviews with key expertsAttend and take part in field incident investigationsDevelop and maintain Product Safety standard work and best practicesDeveloping test plans and lab instrumentation needs to support risk assessments and verify solutionsPrepare and present Project Updates to Engineering Team and Cross-Functional GroupsPerform Drawing, Model, and Production reviews from a Product Safety perspective ensuring products meet safety standards.Education/ExperienceBS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering and min GPA of 3.20-3 Years ExperienceCarrier Corporation is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
