Primary Purpose of Position:
The HR Assistant works in collaboration with the HR Coordinator and the HR Manager by performing administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department . The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of Human Resources as well as general administrative responsibilities. Be a member of an efficient team effort to support and ensure the end-to-end running of HR projects and operations are successful. To succeed in this role, you should be familiar using HR software and tools.
D uties/ Responsibilities:
• Main point of contact for employee relations communication via email and phone ; both external and internal for HR related inquiries or requests.
• Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
• Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions
• Assist with new-hire orientation, onboarding and employee integration / employment life cycle.
• Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
• Assists with processing of terminations.
• Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
• May assist with preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
• Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
• Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensur e that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
• Provides clerical support to the HR department.
• Files documents into appropriate employee files.
• Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• High School Diploma
• Prior related office experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
• Customer service and problem-solving skills; ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels of the organization
• Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
• Preferred Associate’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
• Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
