SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Foot Locker, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Core Services for our Data Services team , who will jump right into hands-on development. The team member will be implementing data systems and process es that serve critical data to our website s , native mobile apps, and partners consuming internal and external services. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex business problems by delivering simple, robust and maintainable solutions using continuous integration and continuous delivery practices
Responsibilities
• Develop applications and data processes that meet scalability, high availability, disaster recovery and security requirements for mission critical applications
• Implement data engineering activities to support mission critical applications and APIs that support the growing business needs
• Identify and analyze technical debt in current data and ETL processes t o identify risks and inefficiencies and propose solutions to mitigate those risks
• Develop data systems, stand up data platforms, build out ETL pipelines, write custom code, interface with data stores, perform data ingestion, and build data models.
• Explore and examin e data to support the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms
• Troubleshoot ETL and database issues and recommend technical solutions that align with cloud migration strategies
Qualifications
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
• Deep knowledge of data schemas and database technologies utilizing both NoSQL and RDBMS ( e.g. Cassandra, CosmosDB , MSSQL)
• Experience building enterprise systems and applications using Java and/or Python
• Experience with ETL development and processes from diverse data sources
• Experience developing applications using front-end frameworks ( e.g. Vue, React, Angular)
• Experience with development, maintenance, and enhancement of data mappings, workflows, and processes
• Experience with implementing and working with messaging and streaming platforms ( e.g. Kafka, Azure Service Bus )
• Experience with distributed caching frameworks ( e.g. Redis, Hazelcast )
• Experience with containerization/orchestration technologies and tools ( e.g. Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes and Swarm)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or closely related field and 5 + years of related work experience.
• A pro-active and self-motivated approach to problem solving which includes curiosity and passion for customer experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to deal with complex problems and present recommendations and findings in a clear, concise format.
