BestCo specializes in manufacturing solid dose lozenges, soft chews, and other confectionery-based delivery forms of consumer healthcare products for both private label and contract manufacturing partners.  BestCo combines nearly a century’s worth of confectionery experience with emerging consumer healthcare insights to create unique products for our customers.  BestCo strives to be a pioneer and innovator in the field of confectionery delivery forms of OTC drugs and dietary supplements.BestCo is currently searching for a Packaging Process Engineer, to be located at our Mooresville, North Carolina facility. Position Summary The Process Packaging Engineer’s primary responsibility is to evaluate, troubleshoot, and conduct continuous improvement activities for BestCo’s packaging lines. This position provides support where needed for key process improvement initiatives as well as deviation and out of trend investigations. The scope of these initiatives may involve product quality, process variation, and throughput efficiency while working closely with packaging development, engineering, and QC/QA. This position is responsible for providing technical manufacturing expertise in the packaging area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Identifies quality, safety, and throughput improvement opportunities and partners with key stakeholders to develop solutions.   Supports and/or lead the installation and setup of new packaging processes and equipment.          Responsible for aiding in the creation of manufacturing instructions and ensuring that operators receive appropriate training on packaging processes they are executing.                                                                                                          Supports the creation and execution of IQ/OQ/PQ documentation for new processes and equipment. Provides guidance for validation trials and leads product start-up (monitoring). Create/support SOPs required for new product manufacturing. Assists in troubleshooting packaging processes and updates processes through periodic review of trend data. Participates in developing packaging specifications and required control measures. Works with engineering to source equipment required for new product manufacturing. Leads continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction projects. Manage/lead the implementation at plant level for new products, processes, and procedures, interfacing with all levels (operations, manufacturing and external customers/vendors). Provides technical support for Operations in Manufacturing. Technical packaging expert for the organization. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct reports. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) able to communicate at all levels of the organization Ability to communicate and manage projects with outside vendors Good reading, math, grammar, spelling and writing skills (English) Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, products, company policies and procedures Ability to follow instructions and work without close supervision Ability to formulate and analyze product formulas and make calculations Ability to perform root cause analysis Good computer skills (including the ability to use Excel and Minitab) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Good presentation skills Knowledge of FDA, EPA and OSHA rules and regulations Knowledge of cGMP Team player Problem solving expertise Must be able to multitask Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and work flexible hours and overtime as needed. Able to clearly communicate in a noisy environment while wearing hearing protection  Required Qualifications Bachelor’s in Engineering or related technical field 5-10 years manufacturing packaging experience Preferred Qualifications Manufacturing experience in Confectionery, Drug, or Food manufacturing More than 3 years of industry experience writing and executing validation protocols At least 5 years of experience in a GMP packaging facility with knowledge of Critical Process Parameters Experience in pharmaceutical or sterile packaging Experience with horizontal and vertical bagging operations Experience in blister thermoforming Experience in bottling operations "NO OUTSIDE RECRUITING AGENCIES" All offers of employment are conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation, drug screen, and employment eligibility verification (E-verify).   Qualifications
