Full Job Description JOB
The Standards Division is a regulatory agency responsible for enforcing the North Carolina Weights and Measures Act (G.S. 81A), the Gasoline and Oil Inspection Law (G.S. 119), and the LP-Gas Inspection Law (G.S. 119 Article 5). Duties involve the inspection of gasoline pumps and similar liquid measuring devices for conformance to state specification of design and construction; testing accuracy of measurements and computations; and making minor adjustments.Must reside within territory which includes the following counties: Bladen, Cumberland, Hoke, Robeson, Scotland.*Selected candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment fitness for duty/ functional capacity evaluation at the department’s expense. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to communicate both in oral and written form. Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.Possession of a valid driver’s license. MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES: Experience or relationships with wholesalers, retailers and other persons engaged in the use and operation of gas and oil equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of related work experience in the gas and oil industry or the scales industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
