Position Summary
This role is responsible for building profitable sales, creating a selling culture, developing talent and serves as the conduit between DVPs and Category Management. Responsible for refining, communicating and training category programs and initiatives within his / her assigned Division. He or she partners with the merchandising planning team in the development of inputs to the Merchandising plan and refinement of communications to stores and reinforcement through leadership of the Field Merchandising Specialist team. This role also works closely with the Operations team, to educate Divisional leadership on CMP strategy and merchandising programs to ensure execution of merchandising strategy. Responsible for the planning, execution and ROI of capital expenditures for their respective division. Responsible for all leadership tasks related to assigned Field Merchandising Specialists. Leader in role modeling superior customer service behaviors and core values.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for delivering center store and fresh merchandising strategy within their respective division (~220 Stores)
Lead Field Merchandising Specialist team to achieve or exceed all KPIs and deliver in store customer experience through supporting execution of the category merchandising strategy, commercial and thematic planning
Accountable for bringing local market needs into development of Category Team and partner with Merchandising Planning to incorporate Category Plan into the weekly sales plan
Deliver on results and KPIs for specific product area (Sales, Gross Margin, Unit movement, Inventory management, Shrink, ROIC and NPS scores) and ensure Department Optimization (end-to-end)
Serves as a member of the Divisional Leadership team participating and presenting in DVP staff & communication meetings as well as weekly conference calls.
Conducts store visits with DVP, DEI and Directors of Operations to educate and discuss new programs, merchandising execution gaps, competitive impacts, talent planning and to collect feedback for Category leadership on opportunities related to new programs
Conduct store visits with Field Merchandising Specialists, coaching and developing their Field Team and retail leaders to achieve business results, grow technical knowledge and personal growth goals
Monitor divisional sales trends and pricing, reacting as necessary to problems or opportunities and gauging performance against programs/plans to determine effectiveness
Review sales budgets and projections with Operations team, share wins and opportunities related to CMP strategies and initiatives
Understand competitive landscape & market and report significant findings, including competitive openings and closing, to Category Leadership and Merchandising Planning.
Functional ownership – Identify exceptions to standard practice and work with Division leadership to correct
Serve as a liaison between Category Management and Retail Operations to ensure execution of the sales plan, training, SOPs, floor plans and store design/layout and promotions
Provide support for preparation of grand opening and re-grand opening stores, including staff training, department set-up, preparation and understanding of merchandising objectives.
Own the planning and resourcing of strategic initiatives for their respective division working closely with DVPs, DEIs and Strategic Initiative Governance Manager.
Partner with the Director of Shrink and Retail Labor & Productivity to identify opportunities within the division. Educate divisional leadership on key opportunities and facilitate resolution. Participate in the monthly Fresh shrink meetings
Follows and reviews NPS (Net Promoter Score) and customer feedback to identify and address issues or concerns
Communicate food safety areas of concern and work with Divisional leadership to ensure resolution.

Basic Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of Fresh or Center Store categories.
Thorough understanding of Standard Practices and Merchandising techniques
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel and Power Point)
Strong financial planning and budgeting experience
Cross-functional leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build cross-functional teams
Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence others
Demonstrated relationship management experience with vendors, brokers and third-party consultants
Seasoned level of knowledge for company, business and industry practices
Must live within their respective division
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with organizational change management
3+ years of multiple retail location responsibility
Merchandising and/or Category experience
Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Experience
Minimum of 8 years combined experience in retail, merchandising, category, pricing, logistics, supply chain, procurement, and distribution
Minimum of 3 years of retail operations leadership including Store Manager level
