Provides services to ensure a safe environment for psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit setting.
Performs continual surveillance of behavioral health unit monitors and operates the patient-monitoring system.
Monitors dining/day rooms, hallways on Behavioral Health when occupied by patients to assure patient safety in the environment.
Monitors patients for suspicious behavior indicating possibility of self-harm.
Reports incidents, utilizes nursing staff for concerns, discusses recent issues, and any pertinent patient details with covering/on-coming behavioral health monitor technician.
Recognizes patient behaviors in the dining/day room, hallway environment that may result in an unsafe situation.
Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students.
Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
