Eaton’s Vehicle Group is adding an Automation Manager to join our team. This position can be based at Galesburg, MI, Southfield, MI, Marshall, MI, Athens, GA, South Bend, IN, Kearney, NE, Roxboro, NC, or Kings Mountain, NC facilities. Relocation assistance is offered. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Position Overview:
Directs the automation and i4.0 strategy within VGNA, promoting productivity and innovative solutions through continuous improvement tools by process standardization and maximizing throughput and utilization of automation technology and i4.0 assets.  This position will work with all VGNA manufacturing facilities in a support role to drive improvement in our manufacturing operations. Identifies key operating factors which support the business financial goals.

In this function you will:
• Align i4.0 strategy with Automation across VGNA sites, by developing solutions that create a culture of innovation.
• Manage automation projects creating business cases, reporting status and supporting automation engineers to meet delivery timeline and CapEx requirements and budget.
• Build a reliable supply chain of vendors, including automation manufacturers and integrators, looking for the best quality, shortest Leadtime and pricing, owning the review of the full quoting process.
• Leads innovative technology and process optimization projects in key value streams.
• Effectively lead and organize other cross-functional teams in support of VGNA strategy aligned with Automation and i4.0 solutions.
• Develop Automation Engineering competencies within VGNA focusing on capability development, mentoring, career development, and aligning his organization to address strategic plan challenges.
• Provides Senior Leadership reviews regarding strategy and performance to goals.
• Coach, mentor and train engineers with Automation department and VGNA Manufacturing site engineers
• Create sustainable and repeatable automation solutions through the development of installation and quality standards, Standardization, Work instructions and Reliability Centered Maintenance, vendor evaluation and requirements, and other documents as needed
• Responsible for total life ownership for all automation and mechanization solutions, including planned life-cycle management, run-state performance and continuous improvement, and system optimization.

Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum 5 years of automated manufacturing experience
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience.
• Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred qualifications:
• Advanced degree in engineering or business management from an accredited institution.
• Strong manufacturing knowledge of equipment and process improvement
• Project management, financial skills and business acumen knowledge.
• Solid interpersonal skills effective in building strategic relationships, team building, and ability to interact and influence through all levels of the organization.
• Strong understanding of quality techniques and quality systems
• Thorough understanding of the EBS and the various tools used in assessment and deployment
• Experience and exposure to numerous manufacturing operations.
• Strong business understanding of financials statements and impacts on P&L.
• Strong presentation and communication skills and experiences with global cultures in Eaton.
• Ability to think both tactically as well as strategically.
• Mobility for domestic and international travel.
