POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Terminal Manager directs and oversees all operations of the plant in the absence of the Terminal Manager in a safe, efficient and productive manner and takes all necessary steps to ensure that the plant remains profitable and operational to the standards of Shoreside Petroleum management. It is also important that the Assistant Terminal Manager establishe and maintain a positive and progressive work environment that motivates each employee to deliver a high level of service that pays attention to details and meets the highest standard of customer service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

A. JOB DUTIES
OPERATIONS: Responsible for the oversight of operations at the Anchorage Terminal in the absence of the Terminal Manager. Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, government regulations and regulatory record keeping.
STAFF MANAGEMENT: Responsible for working with the Terminal Manager on creating and maintaining a team environment with all plant employees including drivers, terminal workers and office staff. Responsible for working with the Terminal Manager to train new employees and counseling personnel with positive feedback, hands on coaching as needed to improve job performance.
DRIVER/FLEET MANAGEMENT: Responsible for coordination of deliveries and drivers to ensure all commitments are met.
HUMAN RESOURCES: Responsible for compliance with Employee Handbook and the hiring of personnel that are capable of fitting in and meeting the quality standards of SPI. Works with the Terminal Manager on maintaining the appropriate personnel records and provides feedback to properly evaluate staff on an annual basis. Keep current on changes and new procedures with the company.
INVENTORY: Assist with the month-end fuel and package inventory.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS: Responsible for resolving all customer issues and also verifying that products are delivered spill free, on time, invoiced accurately and that the customer’s needs are met or exceeded. Address customer complaints and recommend solutions to correct them.
SUPPLIER RELATIONS: Helps establish and maintain strong, positive, relationships with our suppliers.
MARKETING: Responsible for maintaining excellent communication with marketing.
APPEARANCE: The appearance of the equipment, plant and employees are expected to be clean organized at all times and project a level of confidence to our customers.
COMMUNICATION: Establish and maintain clear communications between all employees, and establish an environment which is conflict-free with an emphasis on respect for others.
OTHER DUTIES: Responsible for working in all areas relative to the operation of the terminal including but not limited to drivers, office staff, barge, yard, shop, warehouse and terminal maintenance.

D. ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)
Education : High School diploma or GED.
Experience : A minimum of four years management experience is strongly preferred. Strong supervisory abilities required. Must have general knowledge of the petroleum industry procedures. Must have experience in working with customers and management of personnel.
Licensure/Certification : N/A Other Qualifications : Must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate in writing and verbally effectively with others. Must be able to present themselves as an example of Shoreside Petroleum’s quality and professionalism.
Attendance : Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
English Language : Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Summary: A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years previous management experience and a good working knowledge of the petroleum distribution or related industry. A basic knowledge of personal computers, word processing and spreadsheet applications is required. CDL license with Hazmat Endorsement is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to work directly with petroleum products. Must possess or be able to acquire a TWIC card within 30-days of hire.
The Terminal Manager must have solid leadership abilities and be willing to work overtime when necessary and respond to call outs or emergencies while providing excellent professional service to all internal and external customers. Employs effective verbal and written communication skills and is able to lead, supervise and direct the activities of others. Possesses excellent analytical and problem solving abilities as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
