Zalkin is seeking a talented Assembly Technician to assemble precision mechanical assemblies and mechanisms having various dimensional specifications and operating relationships. Fitting of components, calibration of operating units, alignment and/or balancing of completed assemblies require the application of mechanical principles and an increasing knowledge of assembly techniques all in accordance with specifications and quality standards. The position reports to the Assembly Supervisor.
• Regular attendance and daily punctuality are critical in performing the job.
• Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area.
• Plan assembly procedures and methods to assure efficient and timely progress.
• Read and interpret engineering prints/specifications and/or manufacturing manuals, and/or verbal/written instructions to determine necessary assembly of sub-assemblies and machine.
• Position, erect, align, level; position sub-assemblies, units, and separates components and integrate their operations; perform fitting, aligning, timing, calibrating, and other operations incidental to the mechanical assembly of the machine.
• Inspect parts for proper machining finish and dimensions; checks sub-assemblies and units using precision measuring and gauging instruments e.g., scale, calipers, micrometers etc. Use a variety of hand and power tools.
• May transport specified parts from various plant locations manually or by using various mechanical lifting aids e.g., forklift trucks, etc.
• Assist in the test and final adjustments of machines.
• Follow and adhere to all Zalkin Quality and Assembly and safety standards.
• Provide Engineering Department with accurate updates on all changes made to machines in the field.
• Any other tasks as requested by supervisor.
• Electrical knowledge is preferred, such as electrical panel wiring, machine wiring under electrical leads supervision
• TIG welding knowledge is preferred.
Who we’re looking for..
• 3-4 years’ experience as a machinery assembler is preferred.
• High School or equivalent, technical degree preferred.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven problem-solving skills.
• Understands and can perform the mechanical assembly of machines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand, sit, crawl, squat, kneel, twist, bend, and reach above the shoulders as required to perform essential job functions.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical diagrams, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
• Ability to safely and correctly use hand and power tools and precision measurement devices.
• Math skills to include knowledge of fraction principles.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to successfully handle a multi-tasked role.
• Excellent organization skills.
