Minimum Qualifications: Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications: • Understanding of CSS methodologies and tools including responsive layouts, responsive and high-density images, SCSS compilation, and customization of CSS frameworks.
• Experience with WordPress theme and plugin development.
• Familiarity with service APIs (REST, JSON).
• Familiarity with front-end development and build tools such as Node.js and Webpack.
• Proficiency with design tools including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, and Acrobat.
• Comfort using Unix-based CLI.
• Understanding of HTML email limitations and best practices.
• Experience with mass email tools and CRM systems.
• Basic understanding of search engine optimization and website performance metrics.
Position Summary: The Division of Marketing & Communications communicates the goals, objectives, and priorities of the University of Georgia to its various publics through dissemination of information, media relations, publications, imaging and audio services, open records and visitors’ services. The Web Developer assists with our digital marketing communications programs and strategy including website development and maintenance. The role also assists with HTML email, web analytics, and multimedia integration.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: • Strong proficiency in front-end development programming including PHP, HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, and JavaScript libraries.
• Fluency in current and emerging web technologies including dependency management and build tools.
• Familiarity with code repositories / version control (Git).
• Adherence to coding style standards and best practices.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organization skills.
• Aptness in independent and creative problem-solving.
• Ability to work alone and in a collaborative environment.

Duties/Responsibilities: Website Development and Maintenance (45%)
• Maintain website content and code integrity.
• Troubleshoot issues with website functionality.
• Create and maintain micro-sites used to communicate institutional priorities.

• Develop HTML email templates and manage email communication workflow.
• Assist with implementation of digital marketing campaigns across a variety of digital properties.
• Collaborate with creative services team on UX design and brand conformity.

• Perform routine quality assurance audits of websites and resolve issues.
• Work with Research & Reporting to determine measurable web behavior metrics and implement tracking.
