TRANSCRIPTIONIST Professional Non-Clinical Hours: 7a-3:30p Days - Part-time Paygrade/Wages/Salary Info: OH 2013-72 - 40070A
Job Summary Responsible for interpreting and transcribing dictation by healthcare providers with speed and accuracy in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. # Job Responsibilities Transcribes dictated reports accurately within established standards. Recognizes, interprets, and evaluates inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in medical text or dictation appropriately to clarify, flag, or report as needed. Prioritizes dictated reports based on level of continuity of care needs. Investigates inconsistencies in a medical report. Translates medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded form. Practices proper telephone techniques by identifying self and directing call/message to correct destination. Trouble shoots dictation equipment as needed. Applies knowledge of medical and pathology terminology to achieve accuracy. Maintains and manages timely delivery of physician reports by phone, fax, or internal mechanism. Proof reads all typed reports, revises, and changes as necessary to ensure accuracy prior to submission for distribution. May locate pathology reports and provide special copies of reports as requested. Educates new providers on transcription equipment as needed. Maintains appropriate productivity level based on departmental expectations for average hourly line count. Works with transcription of all types and specialties. Follows all organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Communicates confidential information appropriately and maintains a professional demeanor with customers in person and over the phone. Performs quality and compliance audits as needed. May be required to take all as business needs arise. Qualifications High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire No experience required No licensure/certification/registration required Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
