Executive Director - Human Resources Business Partner
JOB PURPOSE:
Directs the Human Resources function and serves as a leader in an operating unit within the Piedmont Healthcare System. Provides advice, counsel, and guidance to department directors, managers, supervisors in all aspects of HR. Establishes and maintains a proactive employee relations climate. Oversees the performance management process to ensure fairness and consistency is applied. Reports to the CHRO and manages the HR office and staff. Works closely with Corporate HR and Centers of Excellence (COE) to meet functional needs of the operating unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides direction and coordination of various human resources functions to include recruitment/employment, employee relations, wage and salary administration, benefits program, orientation and education.
2. Develops and participates in the implementation of human resources programs and initiatives. Responsibilities include monitoring, measuring and reporting on the success of programs.
3. Provides Human Resource advice, counsel, and guidance to managers at all levels of the organization. Interprets policy and procedures to employees and managers; guides managers to act in accordance with organizational policies and related laws.
4. Communicates timely and effectively to all levels of employees when issues arise. Handles group communication effectively, hearing all sides of issues, and demonstrating a methodical (reassuring) approach to addressing concerns.
5. Demonstrates and applies a deep knowledge of principles of employment laws when responding to employee relations issues. Represents Human Resources in various forums and meetings to include presentations and speaking assignments. Also manages DOL claims and hearing activity.
6. Investigates complaints and internal claims. Communicates and follows up with involved parties throughout the process to resolution. Works closely with the Corporate Employee Relations COE function to resolve matters and escalates as appropriate.
7. Trains leaders to effectively handle human resources management issues. Training may include one on one, group or team sessions. Ensures new employee orientation is executed appropriately and presents employee relations/HR related training as needed.
8. Proactively monitors issues, trends, and areas of concern and reports activity on a regular basis. This includes accreditation body requirements such as DNV and activities related to Corporate Compliance issues as they arise.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
A Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, healthcare administration, or a closely related field is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
7 years of experience progressively responsible professional work experience in Human Resources including 3 years of management experience.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters or PHR/SPHR certification preferred. Excellent presentation, communications and interpersonal skills, strong customer service background, advanced skill level with Microsoft Excel and Word. The ability to work independently on a broad variety of projects; ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity and creativity to changing needs and situations; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people. PeopleSoft experience preferred. Local travel as appropriate to implement strategic initiatives. Strong working knowledge of local, state and federal employment law.
