Full Job Description Job Title: Medical Assistant Floater
Reports To: Office Administrator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:
While traveling to various clinics, as directed by the Director of Operations or the Regional Manager, the position is responsible for escorting patients to rooms for physicians to examine and sets up for minor procedures in a timely manner by performing the following duties.
• Makes sure all labs and diagnostic tests are in the chart prior to the provider seeing the patient.
• Ensures that each exam room has adequate supplies to complete all necessary procedures. *
• Escorts Patient to the exam room and notifies the provider that the patient is ready.
• Interviews the patient to obtain information related to why the patient is here, obtains vital signs, weight, and height.
• If prompted by the physician, maintains responsibility for EKGs, ear lavages, orthostatics, injections, venipunctures, accu checks, nebulizer treatments, setting up and assisting in minor procedures, and other procedures as assigned by the physician. Ensures consent/ABN forms are signed. *
• Explain treatments, procedures, medications, diets and provider’s instructions to patients.
• Help providers examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
• Collects blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepares them for testing. Ensures patient information is updated so that specimens can be billed properly. *
• Updates pertinent medical information in chart to include allergies and new medications. *
• Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Change dressings on wounds.
• Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.
• Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies and equipment.
• Completes all other assignments to include call backs, diagnostics, medications, blood results, lab duties, filing and pulling charts.
• If necessary, provide Front Desk coverage in answering phones, greeting/checking in/out patients, as well as other responsibilities as outlined by your supervisor
Certificates and Licenses:
MA Certificate or higher (EMT, RN, LPN) CPR/First Aid Certification with a minimum of three years of clinical experience

Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and previous experience in the Medical Services field
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Computer/Typing Skills
Ability to type and work efficiently with computer, printers, faxes, e-mails, and computer software: Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
