It has created challenging career opportunities throughout the organization.In this role, you’ll work independently to create, analyze, and report timely and accurate financial information for management and investors. You will perform all accounting duties in support of GameStop’s technology-related spend and partner with the technology team to understand initiatives and provide guidance on the appropriate accounting treatment and required controls.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESServe as subject matter expert for accounting for internal software development projects and other technology-related operating and capital expendituresProvide accounting support to various business units and departmentsCoordinate with business partners to identify monthly accrualsPrepare and record journal entries and balance sheet reconciliationsAnalyze and explain business drivers of balance sheet and income statement variancesPerform a detailed review of staff accountant journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account variance explanations as assignedMaintain process and policies & procedures documentation for assigned areas of responsibilityProactively identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and control and lead efforts to implement the improvements, including cross functionallyWork collaboratively within and across departments to identify process improvements that lead to more accurate, efficient, and sustainable outcomesSupport internal and external audits by efficiently maintaining records and preparing required documentationAbility to analyze very large datasets in Excel using advanced formulas, pivot tables, Power Query and other modeling in order to identify trends and anomalies and to summarize for management reviewDemonstrate emotional intelligence in handling potentially stressful situations, including managing competing priorities, change, tight deadlines, and conflictEXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONRequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field3+ years of progressive accounting experience requiredCPAProficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookPreferredBig 4 or other large public accounting experienceAbility to quickly learn and optimize the use of technologiesWorking knowledge in large enterprise ERP’s such as SAP or Oracle
