The Electric Motor Design Engineer will assemble, drawings, design, Instruct, test the components of Custom Electric Motors within the Motion Business Area in Athens, Georgia. Perform various design engineering duties requiring engineering judgment and application of engineering principles and standards. Engage initiatives to improve effectiveness of the Design Engineering Function. Design motors which are successful in unique applications and result in customer satisfaction
Your responsibilities • Use computer software and corporate design programs to develop quality motor designs and performance data for new custom orders
• Develop winding designs that produce motor performance customer order specifications and industry standards
• Create new engineering drawings or modify existing engineering drawings for winding design and motor construction. Analyze the effects of design changes on motor performance. Initiate technical data release when changes are made to existing designs, drawings, customer data, and software
• Support product management, sales management, and the advanced technical solutions team to meet business goals, including cost reduction goals
• Evaluate and authorize component part and material substitutions within specified parameters. Evaluate rejected components and authorize repair procedures as appropriate for the design
• Maintain electrical design and test databases
• Understand and execute requirements for agency approvals as requested by the customer. Design and specify orders incorporating these requirements such that all regulatory requirements and standards are fulfilled
Your background • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 0-2 years experience. Electric Motor Engineering experience - preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office and SAP - preferred.
• Infrequent travel 10-15%.
• Candidates must have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USA
