SCOPE: The Infrastructure Specialist provides coordination, planning and support for all operational services and technical implementation of plant infrastructure deployed at the plant locations. With more than 35 facilities across North America, this role will provide a ‘boots-on-the-ground’ troubleshooting from thin-client hardware repairs to Bakery automation equipment networking as well as everything in between. This individual collaborates closely and builds continuous relationships with Engineering, IT, and Plant Level operational staff. Often this role serves as an agent in the field, traveling facility to facility, actioning on agendas defined through either crisis, proactive engagement, or future project work as a part of process evolution.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Provide 2nd level operational support in accordance with service level agreements; Recommend corrective action to restore systems during an outage; escalate production incidents to application team and/or senior management where necessary.
• Maintain the plant infrastructure availability level of 99.9% or better. Report, investigate and resolve any issue preventing achievement of 99.9% availability;
• Routinely assist on project planning and design of infrastructure (server& switches) for facilities ensuring service delivery targets, technical requirements, capacity requirements, industry standards, and budget constraints are met;
• Manage Manufacturing infrastructure equipment inventory and maintain infrastructure health on a daily basis;
• Assist developers with manufacturing PLC technologies and design; Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours;
• Remain current with evolving technological products and features and constantly changing business needs, internal standards and industry best practice;
• Refine business requirements, convert them to technical requirements and devise an appropriate infrastructure solution by choosing from multiple technologies and ensuring that solutions stay within the guidelines of security/audit standards and conform to industry best practices;
• Ensure MFG Infrastructure environments (hardware and software) is properly documented; Such as software licenses and registration, equipment location and maintenance logs are kept current
• Provide after hours on-call support on a rotational basis
• Mentor, train and provide guidance to plant end users as needed; Share domain to plant end users as needed and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
Skills & Requirements ABOUT YOU:
• Minimum three years of hands-on experience with large scale environment handling a wide variety of IT technologies
• A+ Certification (Comptia +) and/or Post-Secondary Education in a computer networking discipline
• Proven experience Technical troubleshooting of Service Desk Level 2 & 3 user-related issues - Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems in real time. (ITIL)
• Proficient in all Microsoft Windows technologies including AD, DNS, DHCP and Scripting
• Strong working knowledge of Cloud based Solutions, Client-Server applications and Server Virtualization products (Microsoft Hyper-V);
• Strong customer service mentality; Emphasis on great oral and written communication
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups or activities. Effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation
• Team player who follows procedures set in place in order to provide reactive and proactive support for Mission Critical systems.
