Purpose of the Position:
The Product Manager, Student Technology is a key stakeholder for the Student Technology teams, holding a deep understanding of the UMA user community, UMA engagement strategies, platform use cases, all associated UMA technologies, and the general marketplace.    The Product Manager, Student Technology works closely with key stakeholders throughout UMA and technology teams, understanding the needs of our students and business community and what features and experiences drive successful student engagement for each team.   The Product Manager, Student Technology guides the success of the Student Technology products and leads cross-functional projects and support teams that are responsible for product improvement. The Product Manager, Student Technology works with UMA leaders across the institution to prioritize any project backlog based on business value and serving as the point person for Engineers, Developers, Testers, and Operations on the technology team. The Product Manager, Student Technology participates in key meetings, including stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, release planning, and release readiness. The Product Manager, Student Technology is responsible for signing off on features to ensure they meet the agreed-upon acceptance criteria and overall business need.
The Product Manager, Student Technology reports to the Director, Senior Director, or AVP, Learning and Student Technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional:
• Own, develop, and execute product vision, strategy, and road map. Continually communicate priorities to ensure student needs are met.
• Lead development of new features from concept to growth through the entire product development life cycle.
• Develop features and product backlog items for all new functionality, presenting features and product backlog items to the extended teams in grooming and design sessions.
• Ensure new functionality meets the pre-defined acceptance criteria so the work can be designated as complete.
• Coordinate release planning, testing, and implementation of features and functionality.
• Work across UMA and its different contact center teams to build consensus on the prioritization of features and functionality.
• Ensure that the feature backlog is constantly prioritized to secure delivery of maximum business value.
• Review the completed work of the Student Technology teams. Owns the final sign-off of the feature release.
• Responsible for stakeholder management, providing clear and consistent communication of all product development to contact center leaders, UMA management, and the technology team.
• Responsible for overseeing and managing the selection, production and development of student technology applications such as, but not limited to, the Student Portal, UMASign, and Resume Generator.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Technical:
• Functional subject matter expert (SME) on all product/platform features and functionality.
• Provide demos, training, and knowledge transfer in the proper use of Student Technology systems.
• Create product documentation, accurately capturing how UMA’s engagement technologies actually work.
• Maintain technical and architectural understanding on how the combination of all Student Technology systems and technologies are designed to work.
Support Institutional Initiatives
• Engage in institutional sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate
• Lead with courage in support of change initiatives that impact institution
• Manage and assists in coordinating efforts between departments within UMA
Compliance:
• Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
• Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree with a business management and technology focus or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in Educational Technology & Learning Management systems in large & complex environment. (2,000+ agents)
• Technical Skills • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Proficiency in technical writing, including specifications, mock-ups, requirements, and technical diagrams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Visio
• Experience with requirements tool, such as Azure DevOps or JIRA
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies & principles
• Strong understanding of KPI and reporting dashboards

Preferred Requirements:
• 5 years of Product Management experience building web products and content working in an agile environment.
• Knowledge of Higher Education domain
• Story mapping experience
• Experience with Office 365 platform (all applications)
