The Damage Prevention Coordinator serves as the liaison between excavators, the affected public, emergency responders and Peoples Gas. Promotes damage prevention of company underground facilities from excavation activities through ongoing training and communication with Sunshine 811, excavators, internal and externally contracted locating technicians and other PGS team members.
Provides statewide team member training, guidance and support to ensure company-wide consistency of locate responses and 3rd party damage documentation. Provide large damage investigation assistance as needed.  Provides back up for pipeline damage claim recovery efforts.
Additionally, this role is the internal custodian of PGS information in the ticket management system including the web-based positive response system, while effectively managing the assignment and distribution of excavation notices received by PGS.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may vary by work location)
• Damage Prevention and Public Awareness (PD& PA):
• Travels to support and promote damage prevention of gas facilities at field/regional (Locators) and non-PGS locations (Excavators) to lead damage prevention activities and deliver gas pipeline safety presentations.
• Travel to non-PGS locations to promote damage prevention practices and perform public awareness presentations to excavators, the affected public and first responders.  Serve as a source of education in response to excavator non-compliance activity.
• Ticket Management System (TMS):
• Serves as a coordinator and principal point of contact for responding to underground facility locate requests from Sunshine 811, resolving excavator issues, while using GIS mapping. Uses the TMS and customer information systems for excavation, damaged facilities and other related inquiries.
• Makes decisions relative to the TMS to ensure timely response of excavation notices, especially emergency excavations notices, and the Company’s positive responses to them. Ensures coordination of special liaison activities between excavators and locating technicians, for excavation work near priority pipelines, or other similar high-profile pipeline facilities that are identified in the system.
• Leak Management System (LMS):
• Analyze excavation data in the leak management system, assessing damage trends.  Provide increased awareness to responsible locator to ensure increased communication.  Schedule on site excavator education training and/or perform on job site visits.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent/GED. Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Preferred: Associates Degree in relevant field from an accredited institution
EXPERIENCE
Required: Miniumum of 4 years of administrative and/or technical work experience related to the "Primary Duties and Responsibilities" of this position and in progressively more complex assignments; Related experience consists of performing work in an industry related office environment or call center.
Preferred: Work experience performing similar duties and responsibilities in a construction or utility industry and previous experience working with excavators is preferred. Basic knowledge of Arc Editor oand ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute, a geographic informatoin system (GIS) software
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)
Required: Must be self-motivated; Must have demonstrated good judgment, an exceptional ability to organize and prioritize daily work and/or assignments and to maintain effectiveness when handling multiple tasks. Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver effective presentations and maintain effective working relationships is required. Must be computer literate, with intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and Word, and be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, basic algebra).
Preferred: Understanding of excavation practices as it pertains to natural gas operations, methods of construction, gas emergency response, and leak investigation is preferred.  Practical knowledge of pipeline locating techniques and practices.  Basic knowledge of a Leak Management System (LMS) used to monitor leaks and documentation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
In support of Operations, this position will travel to other PGS Divisions as needed. Travel is required and duration will depend on number of Divisions supported.

The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a Baseline Medical Examination as part of the pre-employment screening once an offer has been accepted.
