Job Summary of the Payroll Specialist The Payroll Specialist is responsible for a wide variety of payroll processing, reporting and validation activities of the Company and ensuring payroll accuracy and timeliness. This includes but is not limited to timecard and time keeping system processing, payroll deductions, overtime calculations, bank reconciliations, wage garnishments and certain tax reporting. You would be responsible for assuring timely and accurate financial statements by transacting and reconciling entries into the general ledger. You will also validate and maintain vacation and sick quotas in addition to managing travel and entertainment expenses and reimbursements. Requirements of the Payroll Specialist Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field preferred Minimum of 3 years' experience in multi-state payroll processing Very good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving ability. Good knowledge of legislation relevant to accounting and payroll (such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act or FLSA) Proficient with Microsoft Office software. Excel expertise a must. Experience with accounting software, human capital management (HCM) software, and/or expense management software, i.e. Great Plains is a plus. Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist The specific duties of the Payroll Specialist include but are not limited to: Responsible for collection, validation, and adjustment of non-exempt and hourly time reporting Validate and maintain vacation and sick quotas Identify and resolves issue and errors related to timekeeping during payroll execution Work with the HR and Sales team as well as employees to resolve questions and errors Coordinating with HR about changes in payroll (e.g. terminations, new hires, etc.) and overseeing payroll payments Process routine payroll special compensation requests such as commissions, stock compensation withholdings processing, deductions, and adjustments Process stock option tax report and validate tax withholdings and processing during payroll execution Monitors timing of reporting and tax liability due dates and works with stakeholders to resolve issues Responsible for routine banking activities and reconciliations associated with payrolls and creating journal entries to support payroll transactions. Responsible for monitoring of payrolls claims / overpayments / repayments, working with the HR department Preparing statements reflecting earnings, taxes, and deductions. Answering questions and resolving issues regarding payroll. Ensuring compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws. Preparing payroll reports for management and auditing purposes. Develop and execute routine and ad hoc reports in support of payroll and human resources Work with HR department to maintain the integrity and accuracy of Paycor data Responsible for routine communication with vendors and HR department Process off-cycle payroll and insurance requests. Ensure all necessary audit processes are implemented and followed in order to assure Sarbanes-Oxley, external and internal audit compliance with guidance from manager Process attendance records and other documents (e.g. W-2 and tax forms) Produce reports to upper management upon request Managing travel and entertainment expenses through our expense management software based on internal T policy and creating journal entries to properly report these expenses monthly Reconciliation of the company's quarterly Form 941 tax return to payroll details Location Remote#LI-LB1 #RemoteAxogen is on a hybrid work schedule at some facilities, with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
