Job Description
• Duties
• Formulate products that support business objectives and strategic plans.
• Plan and develop appropriate timelines for project delivery.
• Plan, lead, and execute pilot plant and plant-scale production trials.
• Develop documentation including, but not limited to, operational formulas & processes, ingredient & product specifications, and laboratory methodology.
• Identify new or innovative ingredients/packaging that provide improved functionality, higher quality, and/or cost savings.
• Conduct sensory testing - utilizing sensory methods, sensory tools, and statistical evaluation to report results that help to guide R&D projects.
• Analyze and interpret sensory data, including generating statistical results and graphs for completed sensory data
• Assist in vetting prospective ingredient/packaging vendors.
• Other duties include the statistical design and analysis of experiments; collection, comparison, and correlation of analytical data; detailed reporting of scientific experimentation; technical presentations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Safety to implement new processing procedures or introduction of functional ingredients.
• Works closely with Quality and Safety to assist with troubleshooting production issues and identifying potential hazards with product formulation changes.
• Requirements
• 4 plus years of experience processing in food production
• High-level understanding of relevant ingredient functionality and interactions. Experience with a wide variety of fats and colorants is a plus.
• Familiarity with batch processing equipment, steam kettles, and mixers.
• Proficiency in project management, the product development process, and a strong business acumen.
• Creative and inquisitive with an ability to innovate new ideas that meet customer needs.
• Able to prioritize assignments and work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
• Self-motivated with an ability to work independently with a positive attitude.
• Well organized and detail oriented.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office. ERP
