Global Procurement Director, Co-Packers and Packaging
The Global Procurement Director ensures that the best possible combination of money spent, and value received exists for such categories as, Co-Packers and Packaging. The position is charged with continually understanding the internal stakeholders' business needs, the capabilities, dynamics, and competitive factors in the assigned categories. Using an established Category Management approach, the Global Procurement Director will lead the development and execution of coherent, consistent strategies for spending, pricing and vendor/supplier selection that drive toward enhanced value, breakthrough savings and optimal service.
Responsibilities
• Leadership and management of the assigned spend and not limited to Co-Packers and Packaging.
• Direct Goods & Services
• Rigid & Flexible Packaging
• Co-Packers and Contract Manufacturers
• Practical adoption and use of the Category Management cross-functional process to deliver Procurement strategies for each category and sub-category supported:
• Identification of prioritized opportunities
• Leadership and facilitation of cross-functional category teams
• Communication planning and execution with targeted stakeholders
• Assessment of strategic and tactical options
• Consensus building among cross-functional team
• Formulation and articulation of strategies
• Governing implementation
• Produce and publish monthly Commodity Price Risk Management Reports Globally.
• Analysis and reporting of assigned categories in a structured way to support decision-making.
• Awareness and familiarity with key internal and external research tools used in analysis processes.
• Negotiation and establishment of pricing and terms of sale for assigned spend area.
• Evaluate risks, threats, and opportunities; Recommend and facilitate changes as needs and opportunities arise.
• Development and maintenance of excellent commercial relationships within existing and potential vendor community that create a climate of service, innovation and continually improving value.
• Support in the development of the required strategies, skills, support & delivery systems involved in management and execution in assigned spend areas
• Awareness and involvement in the entire scope of Global Procurement activities
• Challenge of existing ways of working in pursuit of opportunities for cost reduction and value improvement
• Networking with key stakeholders to insure awareness and support of Global Procurement strategies.
• Communication of specific plans, strategies & actions into the stakeholder community to facilitate change management
• Awareness of spend patterns and organizational behaviors within assigned categories
• Ensure compliance within assigned reporting area with all Business Standards, internal policies, and legal/regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
• Prior experience in Procurement/Sourcing in such areas as, Co-Packers and Packaging.
• BA/BS required, MS/MBA desirable.
• Proven experience and background on categories under responsibility.
• Lead sourcing projects, including RFI, RFP, RFQ and contract development.
• Negotiation, Benchmarking, Market Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, and solid Procurement Projects Management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large- and small-scale projects.
• High degree of judgment and independent decision-making; broad strategy formulation within specific assigned categories.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze and draw conclusions from quantitative data.
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and engage at all organizational levels, ability to cultivate and sustain high quality professional relationships
• Outstanding Presentation skills.
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team environment.
• Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills along with time-management, prioritizing, planning and self-direction skills.
• Manufacturing, distribution, or supply management experience within the Food & Beverage industry is a plus.
