We have an excellent opportunity for an individual with proven business underwriting abilities. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working with businesses of varying sizes across a broad range of industries. You’ll make sound judgmental lending decisions that support our clients’ ability to grow their businesses and deepen their relationship with JPMorgan Chase, while limiting risk to the firm. Your primary responsibilities will include underwriting new applications and requests to increase existing credit, with a strong focus on credit quality and risk assessment, recognizing the substantial credit commitment and exposure that these businesses have with JPMorgan Chase. Your in-depth analysis will include a wide range of business models requiring you to be knowledgeable to assess risk of those businesses within their industries, while also using internal models to make sound credit decisions. You will build strong internal partnerships, working closely with business partners across Acquisition, Risk Policy, Business Bankers and Marketing. In short, we’re looking for experienced underwriters who can build lasting relationships with our customers while helping them achieve their dreams as business owners and entrepreneurs.

Qualifications:
• Thorough understanding of business credit risk assessment, including in-depth analysis of financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow
• Proficiency in credit/lending transactions and analytical skill sufficient to enable independent development of business card requests for all industries, line sizes and complexity with limited guidance required from immediate manager
• Possess accounting and finance knowledge, and business card experience;
• Proven ability to develop business demographics through customer-facing interactions, resulting in sound credit decisions and recommendations
• Must be willing to work in a call center environment with a high degree of phone-based customer interaction
• Demonstrated strong analytical thinking, sound problem solving, and independent decision making ability
• Superior oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders at various levels in the organization
• Experience in supporting recommendation when challenged and in negotiating counteroffers, where appropriate
• Computer skills specific to Microsoft products and proprietary systems, including ability to navigate multiple systems/windows at the same time
• Minimum 1-2 years business underwriting experience required or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Finance, Economics, Accounting) in lieu of experience
